Subject: personal question for a real christian?

If a born again Christian tells me he's proud to know me because I'm a jew,
should I feel objectified or flattered?

oh gosh....LOL....sorry, my brain just took off in 'so many directions' but am going to stick to the question. I think he means it in a good way. Sadly, he doesn't 'get it' spiritually/etc, that all of us are connected to the source and all came from that energy. He is still in that 'separation' mode that, unfortunately, is one of the reasons some people are at war with 'the others'.

I, as you probably know by now, just know 'we are spiritual beings having a human experience'...:-) and that is a journey we each are on and it can take many paths.

oh darn, I can't stop philosophizing can I?...sorry!

i have been following christ since birth. not always
going to church all the time but since i was 25 i go
to the catholic church all the time, daily if
possible. so to me knowing a jew is not any different
than knowing a protestant or another religion. my
wife is buddhist and i respect that faith also. to
me, it is how you have respect for the God who created
you. that is a fact of life of all of us. now how
you feel about me liking you, that is up to you. i
don't control what folks think. chas

Don't know what to tell you, Akira. I grew up in Buffalo, NY with LOTS of Jews. Went to college at University of Buffalo - where about half the student body was Jewish. Guess it stands to reason, with Buffalo being a complete melting pot of ethnicity - that I'd kind of scratch my head. Like...okay...you're Jewish. Everybody is "something or other".

I'm a born-again Christian and I'd be proud to know you no matter what you are. God created you and loved you enough to have Jesus Christ die for you. That means, no matter who you are, you're pretty darned special!

Guess I wouldn't single out Jews.

Well, he said it was because we are god's "chosen" ones. So there's that.

I do not identify nor associate myself with
fundamentalist christianity, Akira, but Yeshua's true
teachings as I've understood them from within (which
bear little resemblance to biblical dogma) have always
been my inner gyro -- so whether that qualifies me as
a "real Christian" to answer your question would
dramatically pivot upon who was doing the
seeing...lol...

However: All that aside, just thought I'd throw out a
bigger-picture frame (just a quick Wiki) to show how
many there are who identify themselves as "God's
Chosen People"...as in, chosen above others, from all
the contexts of rationale they do...

Personally my truth is that we are each "chosen" by
virtue of something I'll call Original Grace, the fact
of each one's origins being that of Infinite
Love...with a nice fat period. Meaning, that dignity
of origin is not conditional upon submitting to
manmade dogmatic criteria written by power-hungry men
centuries ago. But that's an elaboration for a
different time and certainly a different board... ;)

Yeah, the idea of a particular group of loosely associated people being
chosen is comical. I don't even know what jews are supposedly chosen for.
It just felt as if he was saying he liked the idea of what or who he thought I
was or represented to him, which has nothing to do with who I am. His trip,
not mine. I'm not religious at all. He's a self-professed "redneck" & he's a
client of mine, so I keep my mouth shut and stay focused and offer what I
can.

We can't ever be anything to others beyond their own
projected versions of us, of who we are to their context
of perception, anyway... ;) Fortunately in some
instances with those nearest and dearest to us, the
territory of *overlap* within our respective bubbles of
reality does grace us with occasional, far truer
glimpses of each other's deeper authenticity and
essence...

...though I emphasize the words "occasional" and
"glimpses"... ;->

True. Currently, God is not favoring any "type" of people. We're ALL God's "type" and his offer of forgiveness is for ALL of us.

excerpt:

The widespread conversion of the Jews to Christianity is a
future event predicted by many Christians, often as an end
time event. Some Christian groups consider the conversion
of the Jews to be imperative and pressing and make it
their mission to bring this about.
