Spent Thanksgiving at the home of a dear friend I used to work with from 2005 thru 2016. Was aloe vera for my tired soul. My friend is a Jesus-follower as I am - and the kind of Jesus-follower you can have deep, healing talks with about what the Lord is doing in your life.
The Christianity you see publicized on TV gives the false impression that Christianity is some stiff "religion". But...lived the way the New Testament instructs it, it isn't "religious". It is "spiritual". It is a journey. You don't stay in one place. You change, you grow, you evolve in your ongoing friendship with God..
When I first believed, back in college, we used to come back from Summer Vacation excited to see how God had been changing and "growing" all our college friends. Ongoing change was the expectation. As I got involved in churches back then, that was NOT the expectation. Christianity was stiff and not so much about a friendship with God as it was about mentally believing a list of "beliefs".
But I went back to the old days - of an ongoing friendship, of expecting change. Some Bible teachers think that is mysticism. And well...it you never read God's written Word or studied it, yeah, it would be that. Timothy is told in the New Testament to "study to show himself approved" and to learn to "rightly divide the word of truth". You do always have to check yourself with God's written Word. Spend solid time reading the Gospels, the letters to the churches. But Galatians just as freely tells us to "walk in the Spirit", to build that ongoing friendship. You need both. Now I'm not talking about speaking in tongues (I've never even once done that.) or getting visions about the future. I've only gotten strong impressions about the future a couple times in my life - and I don't seek it. I'm talking about just talking with God about His Word, about daily events, about things going on. About seeking HIM, to know Him, develop a deep friendship.

My friend sees walking with God the same way - as an ongoing journey as we study God's Word and walk and converse with God each day. You don't stand still. It is very much like one of my favorite memoir books - Hiking Through, a book by a Mennonite man whose wife died and quit his job to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. You hike through fields, across rivers, over mountains, in sun, in pouring-down rain. And you never stay at the same place you are. Where you are "today" is fine - for today. But 2 weeks from today, you will be 300 miles further north down the Trail. And the Lord gives you a few very special heart-friends, brothers and sisters in the Lord, with whom you can share "pieces of the puzzle" as I like to see them.
When I read my Bible, God gives me many different pieces of the puzzle - but it often seems He leaves some pieces out. And I suspect God does that on purpose - because it is so energizing to get together with a friend like on Thanksgiving - and SHARE the pieces we have been discovering. And find that God gave each of us DIFFERENT pieces - and as we each share our pieces with each other - slowly we fit them inside one jigsaw puzzle - and it gets more complete.
It was so healing to hear what God was teaching and doing in the life of my dear friend - and share what God is teaching and doing in mine. The energy was electrifying as we each shared. And we had a great time watching Wilberforce movie.
Can't leave this post without posting one of my favorite songs that goes with this up above

hi Cinnamon, yes I love to find those puzzle pieces in many places, in the love of a child, the face of a sunflower, the sunrise, the sweet love of my hubby, the Bible, all of it seems to have God smiling upon us. Anyway, wanted to share my favorite song with you. I love the Daystar singers, they are awesome! Love & hugs, Sheila

Love it!
Yeah...someone told me years ago that Jesus no longer talks with us the way He did with His disciples, walking along. That He only talks to us through His written word.
And I don't find that to be true. He DOES indeed talk to us through His written word - but after you're done reading - if you allow Him, He CONTINUES - just like He did walking along with His disciples - illustrating what you have read from things in the world around us and everyday life. Only...instead of being right beside us, it is His Spirit speaking INSIDE of us.
And you can hear Him nudge you to pay attention to something - because there is something He wants to teach you from it.

Jesus said to his disciples in the Last Supper: John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. -----------
So it’s a mutual undertaking for the glory of God, and Christ Jesus is the source from eternal heaven, and through faith his followers are connected to this source, as the branches are connected to the vine. There will be many false christs and anti-christs, but only the true christ will be able to defeat the great deceiver, Satan, and ultimately take his followers to heaven.
Jesus also said in the Last Supper: John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Well, when I placed my faith in Christ, He placed His Spirit inside of me. And in Ephesians the sum total of believers are called "the body of Christ" with Christ being the head and we being the other members of the body.
And yet, I am not the same as God. He is awesome and infinite. But He is gracious to share His thoughts with us when we ask him.
