Gordon Lightfoot, the legendary folk singer-songwriter known for “If You Could Read My Mind" and "Sundown” and for songs that told tales of Canadian identity, died Monday. He was 84.
Representative Victoria Lord said the musician died at a Toronto hospital. His cause of death was not immediately available.
Considered one of the most renowned voices to emerge from Toronto’s Yorkville folk club scene in the 1960s, Lightfoot recorded 20 studio albums and penned hundreds of songs, including “Carefree Highway," “Early Morning Rain” and “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
In the 1970s, Lightfoot garnered five Grammy nominations, three platinum records and nine gold records for albums and singles. He performed in well over 1,500 concerts and recorded 500 songs.

Thanks kay.
When I read the subject line I immediately thought of the
"Edmund Fitzgerald" and MC's dream...then of course the
name of the song is listed in the body of the article ...
such a haunting melody.

FWIW...this was the MC dreams reference I remembered when I read about Gordon Lightfoot's passage. I added the link to the song "Edmund Fitzgerald" myself at
the top from youtubbie.

Five Visions in my dream:
1. A ship's bell suspended in air before me. It is engraved with a name: "The Edmond Fitzgerald" and something else above the
name which is possibly a date? Then I saw a disembodied hand with a dark black or blue sleeve with two stripes on the
cuff(like a uniform) reach toward the bell and ring it three times.
2. Next I saw a map of the Pacific showing all the countries in the ring of fire. As I watched a Tomahawk(like a native
american one) came hurtling across the pacific from the WNW(China?). It tumbled end over end passing over the
Aleutians,Alaska, and over water again landing on the US West coast near San Francisco.
3. Then I saw a great RED HORSE rising out of the sea facing EAST toward North America? Not sure as all I saw was water and
the horse rising up head and forelegs first as if jumping up out of the great sea.
4. Then a fourth vision appeared. It was a map of the middle east and the eastern coast of Africa. There were countries
named: Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, and Iran. The Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf and
Suez Canal were also named.
The continent of Africa was dark in shadows except for Egypt which was colored in dark red. All the other countries and
locations were also in shadows though not as dark as Africa.
The Sinai Peninsula was the most prominent area. It was high-lighted in Bright Gold Light.
5. The final vision was of a giant Condor in flight against a dark blue sky. In its beak it was carrying a set of scales or
balances for measuring weights.
Then I woke up. No other details. Just these five visions in the sequence that I've written them.

Subject: Two Angels and A Giant Condor Carrying a Set of Scales

Dream
I saw two giant Angels dressed in golden robes with red sashes standing upon a beach facing the Sea. Each Angel was blowing
upon a conch shell. These sounded a repeating two long notes, the first low the second high. The Angels played these two
notes in such a way that they sounded with an echoing effect.
The first Angel would blow upon the Conch Shell and the second Angel would echo the same two notes played by the first Angel.
Then they would pause a few seconds and start over again. Three times they did this.
Then from the direction of the Sea a Giant Condor appeared in flight carrying a set of golden scales(balances)in its beak.
I have seen one of these giant Angels upon this same beach in previous dreams. He was blowing upon a conch shell which I was
told was a "Shofar".
In this previous dream I started to go out into the water and pick up a conch shell laying there in the sand below the water.
The Angel told me "Do not go into the water." When asked why not, he replied "The waters are no longer in our control." or
something similar.
This dream appears to be related to those previous ones.
