Kelsey Landers & I made this piece for my best friend Christina Ouk (Thina).
Recently she was diagnosed with Lupus & has been fighting everyday for almost a year now, a battle that could take her life. As her best friend I was devastated, I didn’t know what this disease could do to her. I visited her in Houston & saw how it was affecting her: making her weak, unable to eat at times, spending weeks in the hospital, taking several medications at a time. The fear of losing her was real, & I felt so useless, that there was no way for me to help her.
One night I had a dream, that I was helping her find her strength again, pushing her to fight this disease & be healthy again. That dream pushed me to make this video because I want my best friend to know, that I will be there for her always when she needs me.
Even though I made this video for my best friend, this video goes out to all who are fighting for their lives against any disease & to those who have friends fighting, to always be there for them & never give up hope, because they need you more than you know.
I love you Thinie & I will see you soon!

Thank you for sharing this, Eve... ;)
It reminds me of the first time I saw choreography done to this Coldplay song, 9 years ago on So You Think You Can Dance. The amazing Travis Wall, who had been a prior contestant on the show, had become one of its house choreographers. He designed this shortened-version piece (danced by the very young Robert Roldan, who also became a choreographer, and Allison Holker) based on the close relationship he had with his mother, who was fighting breast cancer. At the time I was also dealing w/life-threatening cancer, also feeling these depths of support in my relationship w/my son...so it was powerful for me indeed, & still brings tears...
These lovelies in this version you share also offer such a beautiful gift to their best friend, Christina, and it's wonderful to see another rendering of it in this way... ;)

Likewise thank you for sharing your story with the version from "So You Think You Can Dance"....It was a moving message in the delivery of the dance...mesmerizing. I will probably view it a number of times over.

Thank you (((Evie)))...how lovely to share the deepest spirit of this...
Specifically for me it was how Mama's momentum for victory within her struggle, to remain Here within the strong role she'd always enacted for her beloved son, was so beautifully portrayed in Travis's choreography...the great surge of momentum that matched her son's energy...and then faltered, offering her son the opportunity to extend that level of support in return...
So powerful, so beautiful. ;->
