Had a fascinating moment this morning, when a dear
old friend, while on the road in desolate SW NM,
texted me a photo of a CD I'd burned for him many
years ago and that he'd just rediscovered, having
brought his old CD collection with him for the long
ride to Santa Fe... ;->
Being nine years apart our musical tastes were always
a little offset from one another...(I burned the CD
for him, but...lol...the Flaming Lips? Really?
;)....however, we always managed to find a great deal
of common ground regardless...
And in this instance, revisiting this piece & its
lyrics feels to me ongoingly and perhaps
interestingly relevant, ten years on...! ;->

~!!!~ Just revisited this track now & oh, the
comparative irony, across...ahhhhWOOPS, not a mere 10
years since Soft Bulletin's release as per my post
above (eldermoment brainspazz ;), but 20... Despite
my snobbish musical tastes these tracks seem to have
taken on a more poignantly noirish shine, or
something, over time...lol... At least for the
moment. ;->
