Do you mean Saturday 2/4? France may also connect to the U.S. due to settlements which were in the middle of the U.S. like the New Madrid area...currently Mardis Gras season with parades and so on is going on in New Orleans, former French territory..."Laissez les bons temps rouler". A week or so ago I saw a man purchasing a frozen king cake at the grocery and memories floated back of when I lived on the outskirts of New Orleans. EXCERPT: Mardi Gras, (French: Fat Tuesday) festive day celebrated in France on Shrove Tuesday (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday), which marks the close of the pre-Lenten season. There's the French Quarter in New Orleans which is central to tourism and festivities. I have French in kinfolk but no traditions so to speak, I learned of this in my later years. New Orleans is like another world heavily French flavored with other mixtures, in ways it's almost frozen in time having been seeded by the French.
