Subject: Lake Piru, thick volcanic clouds, wet ash on interstate 5 dream |

I awoke this morning to a very real dream of being on interstate 5 heading
north just as it crests near Lake Piru. I was in an older jeep cherokee. I was
not driving. There was thick furling volcanic ash clouds coming from the
east and washing over the interstate in wet heavy clumps. Cars were
hitting the walls of complete blackout. I watched as the grey thick ash
stuck and completely covered the windshield. I could hear a news
announcement in the background narrating the whole incident. There
were high speed crashes everywhere. It was chaos. But somehow we got
through it? Pretty intense dream.

Hi sher,
Could you be thinking Pyramid Lake? It's along side of I-5, and not far south
of Gorman, where the I-5 summits a few mile north.
Lake Piru is accessed from Hwy 126 from the town of Piru. Much farther
west of I-5.
Of coarse back in the days, our group of friends frequently visited Lake Piru,
Pyramid Lake, and Castiac Lake.
The Older Jeep Cherokee stimulated the long almost lost memories of
taking several jeep trips with my Dads jeep club, up and over the grapevine
via the " Old Ridge Route ". Which was the original route over the Grapevine
before the I-5 was constructed.
Jeeps and 4wheelers have always been a big part of my life. I built a 1948
Willy's pick-up truck from scratch starting 40yrs ago, and it's a lot of fun.
Once again, thanks for jogging my memories of the old SoCal days.

I’m very familiar with the old ridge route. I worked a few fires around the
Castaic area back in the day. When my kids were young and we lived on a
ranch we had a CJ7 that could climb through anything,lol. The 1948 Willys
is a gem to have.

Hi Jeff! Yes!!! Pyramid! Geez, I got Piru , Fillmore and Santa Paula on the
brain as of late! I passed that lake daily on my commute for years! What
was I thinking! Thank you!
