This dream from very early this morning has stuck with me very deeply. In
the dream I came up out of the waters in a river. I was carrying my
granddaughter in my right arm. As I came up the embankment I saw an old
small house sitting up off a dirt road. There were large trees around it, but
the leaves had fallen off them and their branches were bare. The weather
was balmy. I could feel it on my skin and smell it. As I came up to the road
by the house I could see a blue grey pit bull in the yard behind the house.
At first I was cautious but then I felt the soul of the animal and knew she
was peaceful. Then the dog turned into a raven and flew up into one of the
bare trees. I knew it wanted to tell me something. As it flew out of the tree
and towards me it then turned into a beautiful stork like bird! It looked
much like a shoebill, but the neck was longer and it’s beak was encrusted
with tiny jewels! I really felt this was some type of a “magical “ bird. That
may sound foolish, but there was something very spiritual about it. He
was a beautiful soft blue grey in color and his feathering had an unusual
pattern. The feathers were almost diamond shaped with wide pointed tips.
It landed and stood by the side of the road between me and the river. His
feathers were ruffled and I reached my hand out and smoothed them
down. I could feel the softness and the calm that came over the bird when
I did this. He turned his head to me and asked “are you okay?” Then a
huge bay horse (gelding) came from behind and to my left. He wanted my
attention. He leaned his body next to mine and I softly stroked his muzzle
and could feel the softness and his whiskers and felt his warm breath in
the palm of my hand. He leaned his head in closer and stood securely by
my side. Then three white Shetland ponies came up from the embankment
and the lead one ran up to the horse teeth bared. He nipped at the horse
running up under his neck as he stepped away from me. The pony tried to
move the horse away from me because he and the other two ponies
wanted my attention. I calmed everyone down and stroked each one’s soft
muzzle telling them all to settle down. The horse stepped back to my side
and I woke up! Sorry, but when animals come in my dreams like that I
know it has much meaning. Sorry too this was so long. All my senses were
alive in the dream.

I like to add, the shoebill felt like my protector? The fact that is was
between me and the river was very symbolic to me. I know from years of
rescuing wildlife, especially marine mammals, you NEVER get between an
animal and water if it is the form of escape from danger. If it was that sick
or injured you would approach it gently from the side. Never from behind
or between water. In all the years of working with animals, I escaped the
dangers of teeth, fangs, claws, talons, hooves, hooked beak’s etc! I was
attacked once while pregnant with my son by a pit bull who I caught
midair with a come along. I almost miscarried that day. Hmmm. The pit
bull in my dream looked and felt like my sons dog who is a very sweet
natured dog!

Fascinating dream and magical. I don't know what it
means! lol, but its nice. Love the Shoebell birds. THey
are so interesting as well as the Crow.
