His books were popular while I attended college in the
late '60s but I don't recall reading them. In a dream I
was standing before three tall carousels of books looking
for Hermann Hesse.

interesting...i'm in the middle of the glass bead game right now...haven't read it since the 60s...he won a nobel prize for that book...his classic is siddhartha...others: demian, narcissus and goldmund, steppenwolf...

As I was in a smokey daze at that time, all I remember is
the band Steppenwolf.
