“As revealed in the report sourced, and in numerous news entities, Fox
and their commentators lied to the public and they knew they were lying.
But from their own statements, they lied because they knew their
viewership would leave them if they didn’t. Their viewership wanted lies
not truth.
Fox viewers are not stupid people as some have implied but many have
been duped. The others are people who love the idea of being dishonest
to win. Corrupt people who relish a corrupt leadership, a corrupt
government, all with corrupted morals. They like being bad and getting
away with it.
Sadly this is the commentary of our day. When these supporters of Fox
Lies are challenged, they cannot refer to solid proof for their beliefs, so
they attack verbally and as is seen so often now, not only use gutter
language but as seen by those connected with Dominion, they and their
families’ very lives are threatened. This has been seen with attacks on
government officials and their families also, officials who have stood up
against the lies embraced by Fox and its viewers.
This is our world now. Some still fight against the lies. And these people
are bullied and attacked. Where will it end? It depends who wins. If those
who have stood up against the lies and those who attack win, we have a
chance to bring peace between people again. If the liars and the cheaters
win, it will never end. In my opinion…”
Referring to this post above I now direct you to what Lee and Karen did
today…they both lied about Akira’s posts to me. Karen posted “Akira’s
polite post” and Lee pointed his finger at Shadow and I as both using
potty mouths while it was Akira who posted “fuck off you sleazy lying
dirtbag” amongst other scattering of swear words. Lying blatantly, Lee
and Karen hope not only to convince other posters to believe their lies,
but also have others just choose to stand with them in their lies. Fox has
taught this process well.
I am not thin skinned and can take their abusive words and even their
lying. But as we have experienced these last few years, and have proof of
in recent days’ news, it is a dangerous premise to let lying go without
standing up to it. It has led all sorts of people to believe that they can lie
with impunity. And that is not, cannot be true or it will demoralize
everyone and there will not be a safe place left for truth.

...truth lies in the mind of the "beholder"...
We live in a society where it is nearly impossible to
separate fact from fiction...
...for instance, our own government, while berating what
they call a Chinese spy satellite, choose to "ignore"
that "we" spend more money on war and espionage than any
other country in the world. We do it because we can and
we can also afford to.
We choose, as a nation, to "live" a lie while condemning
everyone else for what we long ago institutionalized.
This being said, since everyone does lie, accusing
others of lying is closer to deflection than to "truth"
defending.
Taken to the extreme that it has on EB is even closer to
classic bullying.
It's probably time to cut the lying charade and
concentrate on being more respectful of our fellow
posters, rather we agree with them or not.
I don't care if anyone believes my "lies" or not...
...I just want the right to be heard with out the
bullying attacks or hostility that has replaced what was
once a more academic discussion forum.
Akira has a right to post and be heard.
Nobody has a right to destroy that privilege ryan has
afforded us on his buck.

no, truth is truth...it is objective, not subjective...sure, Akira has a right to post and be heard, but others have a right to call her on bs if that's what they see, and then she can defend her position...this place used to be more of an academic discussion forum, i agree...but that was because there was participation by a much greater pool of critical thinkers who were not swayed by the type of bs we constantly hear these days...and folks weren't so thin-skinned and quick to take offense when challenged...remember liaho for god's sake? many have passed on, some have just left...life goes on and we work with what we have...you seem to not be able to accept the reality of the present, wishing it was something you imagine it should be in your mind...just chill out and quit yer damn whining...i remember dona used to not like that term...

That was one of your best posts I've seen in some time
ryan.
I do have an observation to add to your comments. It's
regrettably true we have lost many great posters over
the years including those that passed over to those that
just moved on to other forums.
I suspect the bigger problem is that we never figured
out how to become viable for "new" posters or ideas.
We encouraged more of "cliches" and less of an
opportunity for new blood and energy to join us.
I'd like to see us work together to expand our base, not
destroy it as we seem to be doing more and more these
days.
I'm getting older and probably won't be around that much
longer. When I started KVMR community radio in Nevada
City nearly 45 years ago, the average participants age
was about 33. 45 years later, it still is and I suspect
it will be as fresh and energetic when it reaches 50 as
it was the day it first hit the airwaves in 1978.
I'd love to see that here, and I'd especially like you
to bring akira back on board now so we can all work
"together" rather than "against" each other...
...please?

i've never looked for new posters...that's why i block google from tracking what goes on here...like i said, these boards were for the old syzygy gang...i had my own karma there to pay for and these boards were my attempt to do that...a few people have found these boards and joined in, but mostly it is what is left of the old crew...not sure akira was ever on syzygy...the main focus of these boards was always earthquakes and other earthly phenomena...politics were only a sidebar...but with bushco, and and the rump everyone has become so opinionated, mostly about things they know little if any of, and clanish, and incapable of critical thinking...it's a reflection of the times...

...when I started KVMR I wanted it to be the reflection
of times to come as much if not more than the times that
were.
There were very few minorities or women in broadcasting
in 1978 and I changed that the first day of
broadcasting.
It took America 20 years to catch up...
...and I did that in a redneck community of under 5,000
people.
I looked for new broadcasters that wanted to grow and
take their lives and communities to the next level. I
certainly respect the past and Berkland was one of my
favorite thinkers of the time, but it surprises me you
never wanted "this" moment to thrive and grow into the
next generation.
I've heard you mention it, never took you serious. For
what it's worth, I've always stayed on EB to hone my own
pitiful skills of communication to a higher level. I've
never regretted it...
...even if I've failed more than I've succeeded...
...I thank you and the rest of EBer's for that.

I was on syzygy during its last year. Living in earthquake country and
living through numerous mid sized earthquakes , I wanted to be able to
talk with others interested in quakes. It was a while before I stumbled on
earthboppin. It was like finding old friends. Living in Tehachapi, we
appreciate earthquake signs and warnings.
I think you must have more than paid any karma through these years Ryan,
and then some :)

It is a tool to say lies don’t matter, a way of diluting truth by pretending to
be open. Lies on Fox have created people who hate and act out violence
on others and make good people afraid to live with their families in their
houses because of nasty and ugly violent threats. This is what the
Dominion case in the courts is revealing. They are asking the court and
the laws of the land to bring justice to those who have spread these lies
on the airwaves across our country. You cannot spin this successfully. Too
many have suffered. And lies have consequences.

but they can be based on lies...and dangerous when wrong...so to be called out on them is not an attack usually, it is trying to set the record straight...and of course it is frustrating that when one is shown the truth, and the falsehood of their opinion, it keeps getting thrown back in the mix, like it is something that should be considered...this happens over and over on these boards...and you are often in the mix of it all...

I have tolerated them from others in the past because I
wanted to be the "adult" and rise above the nonsense.
Such an attitude was wrong and only let a bad situation
become much worse.
Both etc and shadow need to learn more control in
choosing how they will use their substantial language
skills on these pages.
Someone once said "words can kill".
Pretty sure that was not an exaggeration and we need to
be more careful in how we choose to use them on each
other.

Boy, you better have some proof of “hurtful and violent” Lee. Show proof
(in full context of course). Because what you have said is defamation,
libel, and slander without it.
What really happens here is that people trap themselves in their own
words and I have the ability to write clearly and cleanly without those
traps that people can easily use to divert attention. And it drives people
crazy.
I also use the truth to make my points, by using vetted information and
sources and I bring people back to the point and context of a post
tenaciously. And that drives people crazy.
But I’m not doing anything wrong or violent. And don’t hurt people by
calling names and swearing at them. I paid attention in my communication
classes and I use those same lessons in discussions and debates. I love a
good debate. I can also see manipulation and propaganda being used a
mile away. For all your talk you certainly do not engage to debate or
discuss. Proof is on the very posts right here on tech tonight. You don’t
even use your own admonitions.

I agree with what you just wrote etc...
The difference between you and I perhaps is that I'm
really not trying to "trap" anyone but rather seek a
road to understanding and communication knowing that
someday I'm not going to be around for the dialogue
anymore and my thoughts and views will have to live on
in those I communicate with now if that is to come to
pass.
Many of our fellow EB'er have passed on...
...it pains me that I never learned to communicate
effectively with many of them. It also frustrates me we
have not grown in size and diversity over the years.
It's one thing to win an argument...
...quite another to make a friend we can communicate
with as we pass through this rather Short life.

had a life alternating life changing event that brought me to who I am

I thoroughly agree with you--and with Karen.
Was going to avoid EB like a plague for a while, but I
may regret this.
Thing is PAs are incapable of recognizing it in
themselves. Had one in the family--overtly sweet as
sweet could be, but that 'sweet' had acid in it. Only
those who were of the same bent didn't recognize it--
neither did those who didn't have much contact. It's a
particularly nasty covert form of bullying. And it's
H*ll living with someone like that. Some people can
leave the vicinity some cannot. Some have to check out.
Jailer should be ashamed of himself but doubt will be
since it has been condoned and allowed to get to this
level.

Unlike other posters, I follow the rules. And I don’t attack and call the
owner or other posters names. And when Bopp says calm down, I do it. I
earn the right to stay. And I don’t take it for granted. Everyone has the
same chance. Use it or lose it is the saying. We choose, always. And live

What we often say during this life may sound nice, but
more closely examined may fall short of "perfection".
I have rarely met anyone in this life that if I looked
closely enough, could not bring to my own life gifts for
living and learning that helped me become a better
person....
...and that certainly includes everyone that has ever
posted on EB.
It's not necessarily about winning a debate or composing
a zinger...
...it's more about who we become and what we take away
from our moments together.
Will you join me in asking ryan to bring akira back to
EB tonight so we can all work together for the future
growth of this forum?

Everyone has the same chance to obey the rules Mr. Bopp set up.
Deflecting to Zambia and Alabama is purposefully disingenuous. Another
game. I’m so disappointed in you. Akira can apologize to Mr. Bopp and ask
to be reinstated. That would be meaningful.

I recently "broke the rules" here in Hawthorne when I
"forgot" to renew my vehicle registration. I got
"pulled over" a week after they expired and given a
citation for $245 for breaking the rules.
The fine was nearly 25% of my entire monthly income and
I arranged to plead my situation to the "Judge". I
arrived in court as required and waited...
...and waited some more.
Eventually the District Attorney appeared and asked if
anyone waiting in the room was there for a traffic
citation. I raised my hand and he asked for a copy of
my citation which I gave him. He asked if I had renewed
the registration and I replied in the affirmative. He
took the information and said he would return in a
moment.
He returned in about five minutes and said he had
dismissed my case and I was free to go and have a nice
day.
Although I had obviously not obeyed all the rules, he
obviously saw something in the moment that caused him to
set aside the "rules".
Pretty much one of the happiest days of my life that
came out of nowhere.
I feel the same way about akira.
Doesn't anyone else here?
This actually happened to me less than a week ago.

i've taken all that in, thanks...i certainly don't see you as those 3 do...akira is on a timeout...i don't know for how long yet...and i agree, it is a dangerous premise to let lying go without standing up to it...

I remember being the victim of a bully in the fourth
grade and because my communication "skills" were not as
honed as his, I was the one the "teachers" sent to the
Principal's office for behavior modification.
Putting akira on time out while "ignoring" what etc and
shadow have been doing to her for months is probably not
your best call ryan.
