One of the most controversial aspects here at boppin is
debates about sources.
Those debates have led to on going trolling and personal
attacks dispite your assertion that calling out poor
sources is not trolling and is allowed here.
Currently, several members have begun a campaign to
discredit mediabias factcheck. This is being done simply
to allow themselves to post discredited sources and claim
that they are valid.
In my opinion, a far left source can still be considered
to be bias, even if it hasn't failed any media bias fact
checks. This occurs from the language that is used and how
much pertinant information is ommitted from an article.
From my observation, asserting this opinion, began one
poster's months long campaign to get me banned and
received continuing harrassment, not only from her, but
from others in the community.
Repeated attacks occured upon me and others who called out
covid disinformation, which was apparently allowed to be
posted here at the time.
So my point of all of this is, that if there is a policy
concerning disinformation, it may lesson conflict here. In
a side note, if may help to clean up WOWS as well.
In a larger sense, we are heading for stricter media
regulations, including the internet, in terms of promoting
false and misleading information.
So Mr. Bopp, I've had my say. Do with it what you wish.

Mr. Bopp I agree with Dan. I know that this is a very difficult situation,
especially with what is happening nationwide. Blatant misinformation
and even at this point, innuendo and slight of hand, is extremely
dangerous. The fact that “the big lie” took hold large enough to not
only allow an insurrection at our Capital but was both shot down and
then supported by high ranking Republican members of our
government shows there is strong use of misinformation to obtain
nefarious goals.
Sadly, if misinformation is a continued source here on Boppin, it will
be one more internet site that fuels a dangerous premise. I don’t
envy you the authority you have here, because it is almost
impossible at this point to raise the level of consciousness of some
and to stand against the purposed choice of others. This site is being
hit by both the extreme right and extreme left. Extremes of any kind
are dangerous and throw off the balance of everything else.
I personally don’t want you to close Boppin down. I don’t know if
others realize how close that option has been in recent times. It must
feel like babysitting the worst with little gain. I just know that it is a
fine line for providing a venue and doing no harm. Boppin is truly like
a family to many. I know it has been a place I have used to anchor in
bad times, when no one else is reachable. Taking the bad with the
good I guess. But not if some manage to flush the whole site down
the sewer. In spite of a few who think this site is liberal heavy, it isn’t.
If not by number, certainly in the mass of posting. I counted it up the
other day. Misinformation was running well above anything else. And
those trying to stand against it were few. That is a warning :(

There are only two of us from the right. The rest are yours. I call that
leaning left.
Misinformation is in the eye of the beholder. Unless you point out the
actual lie, it means nothing. Just rhetoric.

do you mean yourself and cc? (and blindhog and jeff of course, among others) you must know that you all have posted a lot of disinformation over the years, from dubious sources...of course there has been some from the "other" side too...misinformation is not in the eye of the beholder...there is truth and there is untruth...often hard to discern, especially in these times of expert liars and bullshitters...that is the basic reason i have continued to let you guys post, even if most of it is crap...a little truth wrapped in a lot of crap...even this last post of yours is like that...yes. the site leans left...but there are more than two of you from the right...so that is an actual lie...but the truth is that those who lean left seem to the ones who are most accurate with what they post, and who use reasonable sources for their info...not to say that msm doesn't also have its limitations...but posters that promote division and violence and negativity do wear me out, and that is mostly why they get gone, especially when they flagrantly violate the few basic rules of order i have instituted here...that is why jim is gone...i deleted a number of his posts as a warning they were out of line, and reminded him that if your posts are being deleted it is a warning about your posting behavior...his response was to repost the same things...this happened multiple times and finally poof...he was gone...basically the same thing that happened with trapper and rig and whoever else has been banned...so now you know and can quit speculating...
i do my best to keep it reasonably fair...y'all don't make it easy...

Ironic you booted Jim for source trolling. Did you ever tell him this

Poynter Institute, "Media Bias/Fact Check is a widely
cited source for news stories and even studies about
misinformation, despite the fact that its method is in no
way scientific."[2] In 2018, the Columbia Journalism
Review described Media Bias/Fact Check as an amateur
attempt at categorizing media bias and characterized
their assessments as "subjective assessments [that] leave
room for human biases, or even simple inconsistencies, to

i did not ban him for source trolling... i asked him many times to stop his nonsense...i then deleted some of his posts as a warning when he did not respond to my requests...i told him when posts are getting deleted, it is a warning...when he reposted them, multiple times, i realized he should no longer be allowed to post here...get your facts straight...i have posted this several times already...

Which is why I posted it on wows. Which I guess is where I will do all my
posting. Since nothing is tolerated on national. I’m sure u know that
there are only a couple of right sites approved from media bias. And u

Talk about "rewarding" genius.
Regardless as to how "you" may feel about "sourcing",
your current misguided policy on it will not have a
long term beneficial effect on Earth Boppin and will
only deepen the divide among posters.
You really ought to find a more positive solution and a
restoration and and apology to Jim is very much in
order.

We all need to move on as a team of diverse energies,
not as the negative energy we are increasingly

The trick is to know when to back off before you push a
good poster too far.
Otherwise you lose the talents of a good poster that

...just offering some good advice from one that has
been where you are and was glad I worked to bring out
the best in others, not the worst.
Didn't necessarily make "me" a better person, but it
made "great" broadcasters that went on to become even
greater broadcasters because I was clever enough to see
their "true potential" and not so much their obvious
"defects.
Worked for "them" if not for "me", but then, it was
never for "me" anyway...
...win win so to speak.

Obviously "good for them" as well Ryan...
It's been my experience that sometimes
passing some on the "negatives" and really helping to
amplify the good characteristics of others solves both
issues eventually while doing the "same" for myself.
Jim is essentially a fine person, picking on a
"weakness" to prove a point doesn't help him, or more
importantly, all of us.
All of us are on a "team", and that should include all
sides eventually.

Sometimes a "lie" is so close to the "truth" that most
people can figure out for themselves what was really
meant by something.
Bertrand Russell would probably give Karen a pass on
this and forge on to find common ground...
...which is usually more "considerable" than we
sometimes give ourselves credit for.
