Subject: I always thought Earth Boppin was a place for adult conversations

...how did it degenerate into a microcosm of a World in
decline and disarray?

Doesn't anyone care anymore?

There was a time when most of us could get along, even
with those we disagreed with...

Anyone know what caused the change?

Are we an example of the world to come?

Any suggestions on how to fix it before it fades away
into just another memory of the good old days when
diverse people knew how to communicate with their
peers?

If that was commentary on reflections of yourself, I'd buy it. As commentary on
others, I don't, but rather would suggest reflecting on how much of what you say
is a reflection of your own internal struggles.

On this point, we agree ao.

It's something I've struggled with for well over 50
years.

Honestly speaking, I find I piss just as many people off
trying to be nice as being obnoxious and crude.

Any suggestions on the right attitude to bring people
together?

stop whining and man up...be the poster you think matters, rather than the poster that complains about everything, all the time...

"There was a time when most of us could get along, even
with those we disagreed with..."

not sure i agree with that...there has always been conflict...plenty of it...remember liaho? it seems to me people were less thin-skinned back then, and had a better grasp on what was important...as always, change starts at home...

...there was a time not so long ago when a post like
mine would have been taken seriously and probably even
respectfully.

What's changed? I've worked in "diverse groups" like
this before and found they could work together just
fine knowing that the success of each was found in
assisting the "others"...

...was that wrong, have times changed, is putting down
each other the better part of God's plan for us?

We seem to be a reflection of the larger world in
unrelenting turmoil.

How does that help anyone except those who believe in
destruction?

As for "thick skins", I suspect mine is as thick as
anyone's around here.

Obviously it takes a lot more than that to make any
given society work...

...even ours.

you've changed lee...that is the difference...your heart/outlook has become heavy...it used to be much lighter...as time grows shorter, we are more aware it is running out...

and why would we not be a reflection of the world? i think the biggest change was that the rump was elected president...just barely, but he got in...his disruptive hatred and divisiveness has affected everyone...the gestalt of the country changed...look what we can do has become look what we have done...the rump was a dagger to the heart, a blow to hope, a knock upside the head with a 2x4...look at congress, they used to be able to work together...no more...same with the supreme court...

maybe this is god's plan...it sure isn't mine...but i think we can all agree, things have to change...they will change...and humans will have very little say in how that happens...it ain't going to be pretty...it'll most likely be like what the people of ukraine are experiencing now...they have no say in what is happening...it is out of their hands...

...I do not allow "Trump" the right to alter my life
plans nor do I blame him for the mistakes "I" make in
my life.

I'm old enough now to realize that mistakes are part of
my growth and that making fewer of them as I get older
is probably a good plan.

For many reasons.

I'm also pretty sure it was no mistake that you and I
chose to spend the last 20 years growing together on
Earthboppin.

I also believe that we probably knew the last part of
our lives was going to be a challenge but that we were
equipped to rise above it when necessary.

It really is pretty much up to us.

I suspect "God" has many plans in play in any given
moment...

...including ours.

EarthBoppin was a rare gift...

...we shouldn't squander it.

you don't get it...it's not the rump per se...it's what he signifies...we just got to keep doing the work...that is the only option...what don juan called our cubic centimeter of chance..we can't even do much of anything for ourselves...how can we even think about doing things for others? god does not operate on this level...he cannot...we can only raise to a level by our own efforts where we may be able to receive its divine assistance...keep tending your garden and forget about trying to "fix" earthboppin...that is a monumental waste of precious time and energy...

"...we just got to keep doing the work...that is the

Well, which is it Ryan, do the work and fix it, or just
forget about it? I'm pretty sure God didn't go to all
the trouble to create the Universe and then send us
down to not learn anything.

The time I've spent on Earthboppin has been well spent
for me, I've created new friends, lost a few, learned
to not take it too personally and been blessed by
"interactions" with people I would not have otherwise
had that opportunity.

Because of you and many others here, my life has been
blessed. Those are gifts I will take with me.

The Zen garden at the lake probably stays where it is
for a while longer. A parting gift of a hybrid
Classical Music station may or may not join it, but if
it does, it will be blessed by the many experiences on
EB for which you and the others here get full credit.

I don't consider my years here a monumental waste of
precious time and energy, but rather a privilege and a
blessing.

I do occasionally "hear" that the harder life is, the
higher the potential "payback" tends to be.

I reluctantly tend to agree.
