I personally am not convinced that people even want a civil
discussion, but rather they want to post and not be questioned or
challenged at all. I spent tedious hours for years investigating
sources and posts and sharing about faux new sites and pointing out
agenda driven information. I was civil. I made clear points. I backed
up my research with sources. And in the end, I’ve been called the
nastiest names ever in my whole life on this site. The worst, was
being called nice as if it was a dirty awful thing to be and used as a
weapon against me. Being nice.
This is where our society lands after promoting leadership lacking
morals, using lies for sport, and deeper, purposefully attacking truth
so that it has become very difficult to discuss anything from a moral
or truthful perspective without someone calling into doubt everything
instead of just the lies. Lies have been given equal standing to truth.
In that kind of society, everyone loses.
There are some here who have fought for truth this whole time. And
now they are called trolls, while being named called and degrading
their intelligence by those who are actually acting out as trolls. You
see? Lies instead of truth abide. If this is the kind of world you truly
want and want for your children and grandchildren, you are well on
your way to providing it to them. But take a minute and look into their
eyes. Those eyes no longer look at their elders with trust. They
innately know lying is wrong. Until you beat it out of them :(

Without truth and facts, well....it's like a line from that old Rolling Stones song "Satisfaction"

What good is useless, false information? Pardon me a stupid question but, "What are you supposed to DO with it?" Shrug....

...it's actually useful for lots of interesting human
based projects Cinnamon...
...like starting wars, electing candidates from all the
popular political parties, it can turn great religions
against one another, even turn families into war zones.
The problem, if it is a problem, is that even people
that speak out against lies and propaganda are more
often than not spreading tons of it themselves, myself
included.
Truth that often works in one person or situation, very
often does not work well for another.
The important things are lessons learned over time and
humans eventually brought into harmony with one
another.
Blaming "others" for the rather universal nature of
bending the truth is usually a good indication of
bending the truth itself to begin with.

I am sure that all of us struggle to get at the truth, often for lack of all the needed information. Too many unknowns. That's why I often say, "I don't know". Or "I'm not sure. Don't feel I have enough information. Too many missing links."
But...there is an overflow of people who don't even try. They ignore all credible sources and just go what feels good to them.

That isn't what Dan did. Do you condone hit & run posts, which contain no
thought, no challenge and no evidence?
I welcome being challenged. I'm capable of admitting when I'm wrong and
I'm comfortable with changing my mind when I come across information that
warrants it. I'm also capable of apologizing.

Have you never had an original thought in your life?
I've been commenting that you guys call what you don't
want to hear trolling, and here you are copying what
I've been saying.
Akira posted the definition of trolling which you all
wish to ignore, but trolling actually means something
specific. Truth doesn't interest you folks at all, you
troll people who don't agree with you politically on
topics you don't want to discuss to derail the
discussion. And it usually works as you derail
discussions on a regular basis. Hell Redhart trolled
chatillion and then amusingly said she was just
explaining why she wasn't going to read it which is
pretty much an admission of trolling. And of course the
topic of chatillion's post hasn't been discussed so this
was another example of successful trolling.
I'm always happy to discuss topics with you Dan and
perhaps one day you will be able to join in discussions
without the trolling and personal attacks which have
become your trademark.

And that is exactly what a troll does Dan. A troll jumps
in making inflammatory remarks without engaging in the
discussion and then exits, just as you have done.
Dan have you ever actually attempted to have dialogue
with anyone? I've never seen it. In every discussion we
had on the Health board you made false accusations about
me, as you have done here. Now I realize a lot of the
discussions on the Health board have been over your head
but if you are incapable of having a discussion try
staying on the sidelines reading and learning.
How many times have you jumped into a discussion that I
am in and I try to steer the conversion back to the
topic but you won't engage? You just come back with some
other personal attack.
I don't want to pick on you dude. Just let me say don't
try this type of behavior elsewhere on the internet as
forums with a moderator will not be amused.

I remember a very complicated discussion between us about
Palestine and Israel where you demeaned my viewpoint instead of
discussing that both sides have instigated horrendous actions
towards the other. And since then, your attitude has been less than
pleasant many times. I give you credit that once you posted
“fuck you!” to me and then later apologized when I pointed out I was
the wrong poster. That was ages ago.
And yes, I am capable of apologizing. My family gets upset with me
at times for apologizing too much. Apologizing even when I’m not in
the wrong in order to bring peace. I also stand firm and strong on
points that I feel passionately about. I have evolved enough to know
that no one knows everything. But certain truths are universal.

Yes, I reacted badly in that conversation. I was appalled by your apathy and
the lack of compassion you exuded toward the Palestinian people. It seemed
out of character for the person I perceived you to be at the time.
It's unfortunate that this is where you chose to go with your thread on
"truth". Making it about your own victimization. But that's your m.o. I
recognize it well.

I also do not continue posting long threads of back and forth
accusations and rebuttals. Evidently you read my Middle East
statement of both sides being wrong, as apathy and lack of
compassion, which it is neither. Rather, a statement of fact. Both
sides create their own tragedy through a serious and violent loop of
tit for tat. There is no way change comes through that path. And I do
care. Especially for the children on both sides. It is up to the adults to
come to a table and figure out their problems non violently.

well it certainly depends on where you sit in the universa...we are uniquely between the planetary level and the moon level, subject to 48 laws...three of them (for us humans) are that we must breathe, we must eat, we must obey the laws of gravity...but even these "universal" laws can be overcome by conscious labor...when you get up to the universal level, there are only three laws...the holy affirming, the holy denying and the holy reconciling...which we tend to simplify as positive, negative and neutral...(and note, you are trolling etc)

intelligently debated one way or another...

Universal truths are not my invention Lee. You can go online and get
lists of them and discussions about each.
A few favorites:
Humans are mortal.
Everything is impermanent.
Everything is connected.
I think the glue of universal truths is the love they hold. They are a
gift. As in:
it is a gift to know that our life will end which can motivate our every
moment of living in awareness.
Because of impermanence, we have a chance of do-overs and
do/betters.
It is our connections that ground us, give us a road map that we can
count on as long as we don’t give up. If we give up, it is because we
choose to let go not that we have been let go. And we can always re-
connect back in.
One universal truth that has become so clear to me these years is
that you cannot give power to an immoral man and expect morality.
That one I cultivated myself. But should be debated on National.
Today there was an argument about trolling that ended up here on
the Tech board with Mr. Bopp. People self-revealed more than I think
they intended.
