Not sure if this is going to happen now...Norman is getting incredibly frustrated with the site...whenever he has invited you...either by email or by name...it looks like you join but says "opponent". It tries to discourage him from playing you as you both have different rankings. He's been trying to circumvent that and then of course his puter decided to do an upgrade in the middle of it lol. So I've downloaded a video for him to see if maybe he's doing something wrong and he'll be looking at that today.
At this rate, it might just be easier for you to fly over here and do it face to face lol.
He'll also try on his phone (this hasn't been a great week for him as he's having some side effect issues re some medication he's on)...so hang in there.
Will let you know how it goes...is it ok for him to contact you via that email or would you rather not? Also...did you pay to become a member...that may be another issue.

I think I might have deleted it because the name just said "opponent" instead of Canglo which is confusing me. Anyway, I sent him another challenge. The other option is for him to send me an invite at Angela.marcus@gmail.com. Tell him thanks and I'll keep my eye out.

I can so easily get sucked into the trading of news and views on current events, but I'm trying NOT to fall into the trap. My distraction of choice is to learn to play the harmonica.
Brazil Project 1... I think most of this album can be listed to at the link

Norman will play a game tomorrow if you want:) Just name the time and we'll figure out the time difference. He loves chess and is good but hasn't played in a few years...he's out of sorts today so hopefully will be feeling better tomorrow.

Is he still undergoing treatment? My impression was that he was responding well and improving. Yes, I'd love to play with him, but I'd like to work on my game for a couple of more weeks first... I'm still a wee beginner. Has he played at chess.com? A game can be set up for a duration of time- minutes, days, etc. The games I've played with my brother have lasted anywhere from about 2 - 7 days.. Otherwise the whole game can be played at one sitting. There's a lot of flexibility. He would need to create an account if he doesn't have one.

He said he had an account there quite a few years back but hasn't been on there for a while. He may have forgotten his account but he can start another one. LOL 2-7 days huh? I'll get him to set one up and you guys can take it from there...just return him in more or less the same condition he came in lol. I haven't updated on personal but he's had a lot to contend with...he may have some surgeries coming up as well but he's off the immunotherapy and had to go to chemo. Just finished 4 months of that (not fun) and is now on "maintenance" chemo...for the foreseeable future. Any distraction is great and we are housebound until he gets back some of his immune system. He'll probably just use his regular name and I told him yours so he can look for you. Enjoy the game:)

Sounds good. The games don't necessarily take that long, but sometimes a move would get drawn out & the next 5 moves would happen quickly. I'll keep an eye out for an invite. He doesn't need to wait a couple of weeks, any time.

Glad u checked in.
Good luck w the chess. No way could I handle that one. Cribbage is my fav. No guts to do online yet. Just w relatives.
I leaned towards it was something like that as in taking a rest for refresh. It's nice to hear you are okay seeking solitude. Chess is an interesting game for contemplation... major for the ptb in this Disney world realm.

Thanks. Actually it's a great way to connect with my brother in Wisconsin. We've had ongoing games for 3 weeks. He's really good and I almost beat him in our last game but blew it with a single bad move towards the end. In a way yes, contemplation. I can see my stubborn thought patterns that want to make hasty, erroneous decisions. Chess forces me to look & move more carefully and think through all my potential options as well as my opponent's - a skill I clearly haven't mastered yet. It's definitely bending my brain.

indeed! Great way to make connections. My husband is the chess player and he's been playing with our grandson in Texas. He loves their games together (until we're able to make the trip out)
Internet isn't all bad...I was looking for some veteran information on my father, and found a whole webpage tribute to his brother, my uncle. He was kia in vietnam in 1965. On that page, I saw a comment from my cousin I have not seen in 50 yrs. We're now communitcation via email back and forth and catching up. we both played together as kids. Now my sis is in the conversation and my mother, as well.
Best of luck in your Chess adventure! Go get 'em, girl.

Wow, that sounds like a cool surprise. If you want to find relatives, another way is getting your genetic bloodline done. I did it with 23&me. For a long time I was getting emails & inquiries on the site from 3rd, 4th, etc. cousins from all over the world. Yikes.
My brother-in-law plays with his 8 year old grandson & from what I hear the kid's likely to beat me at this point.
