Interesting couple of days. Of course no one would agree that Redhart's constant posting was trolling. So what happened when I did the EXACT same thing? Well first I applied Redhart's standard to one of ryan's posts on Envirowatchers. Poster ryan really, really didn't like it, going so far as deleting one of my posts... even though a few hours earlier he had said that he saw nothing wrong with it. Hypocrisy anyone? He wasn't happy that the douche bag's website listed Counterpunch as extreme left and noted that they had published material from the Russian government. Then today I used Redhart's standard to just 2 posts on National. TWO! LOL Dan made it clear that checking sources is most definitely trolling. He went crazy. Mitra couldn't figure out what I was doing because the facts of the story were true. For those of you following along at home the facts of Nevada's post yesterday were also true and yet Redhart still posted what the douche bag had to say about his source. Likewise Akira couldn't believe it, even asking "Where'd smart Jim go?" and posted a video confirming the story. snodrop thought I was having "a temper tantrum...poor thing". I bet she never said that when Redhart did it. So while JTRIV really didn't get much support and Redhart got lots of support.... remove the people and circumstances and people definitely think that posting what that douche bag's website says about sources is trolling.... especially when the story is true. They just don't think it is trolling when Redhart uses it like a weapon to beat on people they disagree with because they enjoy seeing Redhart attack them. Cheers Jim |

If you wanted to know what I thought, you could have asked. For the record, I’ve disagreed with Redhart's blanket dismissals of sources myself. In fact, I did it just a couple of weeks ago in defense of a site chatillion used, which I regard as highly reliable. I particularly take issue with mediabiasfactcheck when it makes negative claims about a source without substantiating them with evidence. I That said, I value Redhart's voice and contribution here. It’s clear to me at least that her intentions with fact checking are benevolent. You’ve made solid contributions here yourself, which I support and value. Maybe you could try doing that again instead of behaving like a jerk. Maybe you’re just feeling particularly stressed out right now. A lot of people are. |

Hi Akira, Well sorry I offended you but until I demonstrated what it looked like for someone other than Redhart to do it no one was willing to speak up. Probably because Redhart is a good person... but still no one was willing to say her repetitiously using that guy's website only against a select few posters was wrong. But when Jim did it people were quick to speak up that it is wrong. Kind of ironic that bias prevented people from seeing a media bias website was being used as a political weapon until I did the same thing... but there you have it. And yes, mediabiasfactcheck.com is a pretty shady operation. On ryan's favorite website they do note the extreme left bias and the fact that Counterpunch published material from a Russian troll... but they still rate it as Mostly Factual with no failed fact check. Now how in the world could Counterpunch publish multiple articles from Russian trolls but still not fail a fact check??? I didn't find out that Counterpunch doesn't fact check their articles or even ensure the author is a real person until I read articles about the Russian troll operation. I bet ya a dollar that if an extreme right biased website had published material from a Russian troll they wouldn't get a Mostly Factual rating. Who is checking the bias and factual content of fact checkers such as that website? No one. Cheers Jim |

What I think? Doesn't take thinking to see what is going on. There are two sets of rules, one for 'me' and the other for 'thee'. EB is a good example of what's going on in the real world. Its a hellish world in which one group is allowed to harass, browbeat, destroy, twist, foully smear and bully anyone they disagree with to any degree--all the while denying up and down and sideways what they're doing and painting themselves as upstanding, caring, oh-so-virtuous wise ones. And are allowed to get away with it. There is no chance for any sort of dialogue or meeting halfway if the Other's view contains any smidgen of alternate view. This is not healthy. Any means is allowed to be used against the Other as if there is no humanity involved. Fortunately, only words are used here, not actual bricks, stones, fire and the rest. As the young woman from Venezuela cautioned in the link I shared the other day. It started with pulling down the statues. I think it started long before that. We're in for a helluva ride. I'm glad my parents and grands-on-back are not here to experience this. |

...and yet the "denial" here is so thick it's scary. You have to be really careful when it gets this flakey... several times I wrote responses and then deleted them after realizing I was getting sucked in by the moment. Ultimately what Red and Jim and ryan define as rational and sustainable is their business to sort out. I've never seen the world in as precarious and risky place as it is at the moment... ...there really is very little room for misjudgment and ordinary ego malfunctions. I can only hope that someone here saw through the fog long enough to rethink stupid. ...stupid won't fly any more... ...not even here. |

Hi Lee, Thanks. ryan has never been really big on fairness but just a few years ago even one of his favorites like Red couldn't have gotten away with her behavior. The world has gone crazy and it does concern me the way many on this forum and in the real world justify bad behavior in the name of their cause. And that is scary.
