There is a Social Security phishing scam that has been going around. I've gotten four calls in the last ten days or so. My phone rings with a local area code on the id. I answer it and the woman on the other end claims to be associated with a company that helps with Social Security disability claims. They start off by saying "Hi! We are calling about your recent disability claim." I never have let them get to the point of asking for my social security number. And btw, I have never filed a disability claim or are in the process of filing one.
So Be Aware Thanks

Hi Dan,
I have had that call many times over the past several months from many different numbers.
Big time scam... be careful out there!
Happy New Year!

Recently got a text message claiming that there was a temporary hold on my VISA debit card... just call this number xxx xxx-xxxx and we can unlock it for you (them)! OMG...DELETE!!! Don't even have an account with the bank at which they claimed my account was 'on hold', but used to years ago. Scary times, must stay alert!
A Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year To All!

We have had that happen and it was totally legit. We’re traveling and they shut off our card at the gas station. Apparently when u travel you should notify them before u leave. Oops. Then again I got an email from ‘our’ bank that said to call this number immediately. I almost fell for it. Logo and everything was the same. I read carefully and found a typo. I would not have called the number they gave me anyway but it looked so real. Get so many scam calls on the landline I got a blocker. It helped but they just change the number. Even had to block our own number because it came thru as that. Sometimes it’s fun to play with them. It’s so scary out there and I feel so far for people that fall for it. My neighbor gave them over $600k. There was just no stopping him. It was so sad to watch. Nothing worked.

Yeah! We always notify the card companies before we travel.
We've had it shut off while on a Christmas shopping binge years before. We didn't want to go through that again, even though we got it straightened out in the store
