Hello Mr Bopp,
I hope you are enjoying your holidays.
I wonder if you can help me.
I have several bookmarks in my bookmark bar.
About 20 of them.
All of them have individual icons/shortcuts
illustrated on the Bookmark bar.
Except 2 which never show up and 1 that comes and
goes.
I have tried refreshing the computer, and turning
off the ad block popup, but I can't motivate the
icons to show up, all I get is a folded page in the
bookmarks bar.
I have tried Settings and all the places I thought
might help me but nothing changes.
Is there something I can do to ensure the shortcuts
are posted in Bookmarks, or am I dependent on their
web manager doing something at their end?
I have tried searching online but I have not found
anything to help me.
I have Windows10 if it matters.

Raymond,
The icon is controlled by the webmaster.
It is normally specified in the link element in the Head tag.
example: LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="favicon.ico"
If the icon file is missing from the website, there will be nothing to display.
Unless you have webmaster access there is nothing that you can do except complain to the webmaster.
This site uses http://earthboppin.net/talkshop/favicon.ico
Interestingly, LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="favicon.ico" only shows in the HTML source for the main page, but I still see the icon for other earthboppin pages that don't contain the link. Maybe it gets cached, or maybe it get picked up anyway because there is another copy of the icon in the root directory. http://earthboppin.net/favicon.ico
However; if the icon displays on another computer, but not yours, then the problem might be on your end.
Since other icons display OK, the problem is most likely on the website that you are linking to.
