Hawaii officials say 'false alarm' on alert about inbound ballistic missile
Hawaii officials said Saturday that a mobile alert saying a ballistic missile was headed for the state was a "false alarm" after people received the alert detailing an imminent threat.
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) issued a tweet saying that "there is no incoming missile to Hawaii," saying she had confirmed with officials the alert was a false alarm.
Hawaii's Emergency Management Agency also confirmed on Twitter that there was no threat. Another alert was sent out 38 minutes later calling the initial alert a false alarm

Hawaii's got a lot of problems with this one! Just talked with a dear friend there a few hours ago that said she got the "all clear" alert but not the original freak-out. Her mom phoned her asking what the heck they should do.
Also, had this been real a lot of folks, mostly elderly or the most needy and homeless wouldn't have had a clue at first. The civil defense sirens didn't go off, least not on north shore. She talked as if island-wide, they didn't alert.
Finally, while we were on phone Gov. Ige came on tv saying it had been shift-change and one of the employees accidentally hit the button.
Freaking coincidence that Pearl harbor hit many years ago on a weekend, early morning and this accident? hit on a weekend, early morning also.

yes, my daughter lives on the north shore, tsunami alarms didn't sound but she got the alert on her phone, freaked out aplenty! Also, there are so many homeless folks on the island, don't know what they would do. I didn't hear the news until that evening and didn't talk to her until the day after. Honolulu was a total mess, folks running from the beach to their hotel rooms, peeps stopped on the freeway, etc. The FCC will do a full investigation and apparently there was only one person who had control of that button, there should be at least 2 people with a supervisor at all times. Am pretty sure Hawaii will make sure this doesn't happen again!
