A good question why users here are being tracked - and as a wise man once asked...
'can you guess who is behind it all?'
earthboppin.net
"A program or data that can be used by a third party to identify a user or computer. The most commonly used trackware is a Tracking Cookie - a small piece of data that identifies a certain user or a certain computer, with the help of a web browser configured to store cookies."
And some enightened countries have laws about that kind of shenanigans:
"You must tell people if you set cookies, and clearly explain what the cookies do and why. You must also get the user’s consent. Consent can be implied, but must be knowingly given.
The same rules also apply if you use any other type of technology to store or gain access to information on someone’s device."

funny how often your posts are full of bullshit nasirah...i do note in the faqs that if you select "save my personal information" in the posting form box that a cookie will be set to save that info so you don't have to type it all in when posting...nothing nefarious about that....in my cookie list i for eb i have a value stored for name, password and email...that is it...other than that there are no cookies set that i am aware of so your claims are specious at best so i am curious as to what cookies others might have...i deduce you don't know much about cookies from your comments...i do keep track of ips for posters on most posts (not all boards) so i can take appropriate action against spammers and trolls, but that does not use a cookie...so take your accusations and stick em where the sun don't shine...

So you have nothing to do with your website dishing out tracking cookies for non registered folk without their permission.
Most interesting...
So who's behind that then?
"i deduce you don't know much about cookies from your comments.'
preceded by:
"if i remember correctly they are only used if you register your handle... "
"change that...only used if you want to remember your personal info... "
" what does the cookie say? "
lol pot kettle black
Have you got to the bottom of the Libyan conspiracy yet? :-)

no, because eb does not use tracking cookies...the only time you get cookies, as far as I can tell, is when you choose to have your browser save your posting info (talkshop_name, talkshop_password and talkshop_email)...i have no knowledge of or access to that info, altho i could hack the script to get it if i wanted to...I did not write the talkshop script but no one has shown me a cookie other than those 3 listed...so again you show your ignorance about cookies...
as to libya, i am glad to hear you are supporting them and their overseers with your choices...

What led you to you to fear CloudApp was hosting my pics in Libya when they're in the good ol' US of A :-)
Meanwhile back on topic
"i have no knowledge of or access to that info"
So you don;t know what your forum software is doing spying on folk - that's reassuring!!!
"Ignorance of the law excuses no man. Not that all men know the law, but because 'tis an excuse every man will plead, and no man can tell how to refute him.".

So let's get this straight - Amazon in Libya is in cahoots with the nefarious Maximilian Schoening, who are spying on you using using blackhat SEO anylaytics and passing all that info (inc what colour socks you are wearing & what you had for breakfast) back to me and my overseers in our heavily fortified underground base.
Wow! that's some global conspiracy you've uncovered! Maybe you should put the same unstinting research efforts into your own forum software :-)

I clear cookies often, and a new one generates as soon as I open EB. That means I always have one.
Yet I'm not blocking them either.

I found this when looking up www.earthboppin.net in my Network Utility.
I could not right click on the cookie for information, or even open it, from the area I would delete them. If you know where else to look, I'd be happy to try. Running Mac. OS X 10.8.5
Maybe you can make sense of this.

Yes, I can highlight it, but can't open it with right or left click or double clicks. The only thing I can do there is delete it, or delete All. Can't get the properties from that page.
I do have the selection to block cookies from third parties and advertisers marked, so I am allowing most all websites cookies. I could always mark the Always Block cookies, but the cookies don't bother me, as I delete most all of them every few days. And the cookie may help EB load faster, which varies from time to time.
As you know, I'm not registered.

huh, strange...if i highlight a cookie it has the name and then the content shown lower in the info box (firefox on a mac)...
that other lookup you did with network utility is not relevant, just shows some domain info...
at any rate, any cookies from eb are neither harmful nor used for tracking or anything like that...in firefox, i can block cookies from a particular site, so that is an option for some...i almost always block cookies from sites except those few sites i use frequently that require them

The only way I can see cookies is by going to safari/preferences/privacy/manage website data… I click on that, see a list of cookies and the option to remove individual or all. Nothing happens if I try to highlight a cookie. I think it’s the new Sierra setup. I recently upgraded and it does look different. The ‘security’ window doesn’t have any cookie options.

Running Safari Mtn Lion here. I even tried selecting always Block cookies, and deleted All cookies, and opened EB, and it popped right up. Maybe it's just keeping where I go.
It's really no problem for me, just trying to help.
