Google Chrome is a great web browser with browser updates
every 6 weeks. The updates improve browser security.

That message usually comes up when Adobe Flash (plays videos) or Adobe Reader extension/add-on needs to be updated. That's why these error messages are occurring across the different browsers you've used.

You can download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader by clicking Here.
Adobe Flash by clicking Here.

Tip for downloading any Adobe-related updates: once the download has started, minimize your web browser, where you'll discover a little 'ol message box asking you to agree to the Terms and Conditions for installing the update. Click on 'I agree' to start the update.

ALSO, pay attention to any window that appears during the update process. For example, on the Adobe Flash/Reader updates there's a small (easily missed) message w/a check box asking you if you want to install McAfee anti-virus program as part of the download. Trust me, you don't...especially if you already have a competitor's a/v program installed. Remember the "browser wars" from about 5 years ago? The a/v companies are now doing the same thing with their programs. And once you get two a/v programs installed on your computer, you're in for a world of gnarly headaches.

Another thing to check is in each browser's add-on/extensions menu, there is usually an option somewhere in those menus that will check for any updates to your current add-ons and extensions.
~Peace~

yes, downloading those didn't actually TOTALLY solve my
problem, but it pinpointed it down a bit more. It
proved to me I "should" get a more updated version of
internet explorer

BUT

now that I've downloaded what you told me about, I
don't NEED the updated version of explorer, because NOW
I can use safari for everything I need safari for! (I
switched back and forth because I couldn't previously
watch youtubes on safari, and NOW I CAN! (Not to
mention safari is MUCH faster!)

heheheeeee

You'll want to update Internet Explorer. One reason is that the older versions are bug-ridden and have many security holes. But more importantly, when diagnosing internet connection problems, Internet Explorer is usually the only web browser that one can use for diagnosis. With older computers, that's the first thing (i.e. IE) I have to update before I can properly test and diagnose PC problems.

OK.

Depending on the site, it pops up a certain amount of times. I click the OK button, and it stops popping up. I believe we're about to lose our ability to have communication exactly where we want.

It pops up a certain amount of times, for me, based upon WHAT SITE I visit. This site, it pops up twice before it quits. This is on every single page I visit.

Curezone's main page? Six times

The worst offender is one of the forums I visit there:

It 'pings' ELEVEN times (where I click it closed before it stops pinging)

PER PAGE.

Just wanted to report this before I lose my computer altogether.

I find this - interesting

but frustrating, of course.

I believe it to be deliberate. Why else would it be a different amount of times based upon where you go?

Yeah, call me paranoid, but, come ON! A DIFFERENT AMOUNT OF TIMES based upon WHERE you go???

Paranoid CT'er my ASS.

Yep, this site's twice per page.

Yahoo main page - once
their log-in - twice
check mail - fifteen - yep - 15
sent - 8
inbox - 6
compose new mail - 2
open a new tab - 1

things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I figure I might as well go OUT reporting to y'all

You have been forewarned.

And yes, this is really me - used my password and everything.

I think the lesson is don't use internet explorer (vector for all kinds of
nasties) and use safari or firefox (make it the default browser) or go the
whole hog and get a mac.

More practically Are your flash plugins up to date (what windows OS
have you got) what version of IE? Is your system up-to-date?

What virus protection do you employ?

and, it's still not. But I keep hearing (like you said)
that explorer is nasty and I rather agree with you so now
I don't HAVE to update explorer because I can now use
safari for everything.

You BOTH were right and thanks to CB for giving me that
direct link, you both saved my butt.

Thank you.

(IOW, I no longer even have to OPEN explorer!) lol
