Subject: Question.

Hi Everyone,

I use Magicjack for my desk phone at home, and it has saved me a lot of money over the last almost three years.

The problem for me is Magicjack has made recent changes for checking voice mail including taking out the password requirement before one can access their voice mail (This dropping of the need of a password is only being applied when accessing voice mail at the computer where Magicjack is being used --dialpad or a handset phone that is plugged into usb).

I am wondering if anyone can suggest a way that I can create a necessary password requirement before accessing my voice mail? ---Regardless of Magicjack's recent change of removing the password requirement before checking voice mail.

This change of "taking out" the normal password/pin protection and going directly into my voice mail folders is just not for me.

I should mention that the password pin is still required when accessing voice mail from another provider phone...thank goodness for that.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I take it you mean that the password would still be required if you were accessing your voice mail from elsewhere?

I've hard regular voice mail act that way. If I called from my home number, no password was necessary. Call in from any other number and you had to jump through hoops.

The system relies on you calling in from a known good location. In my case the caller id confirmed I was calling from my own phone. In your case, you are probably on a high speed connection, and your fixed IP address serves the same function.

But, if you still want the password to be required, you might best talk to the folks at MagicJack.

Brian

Thanks Brian,

Yes, the password is still required if accessing voicemail from elsewhere, which is good.

I spent all of yesterday chatting with the far-away support that MagicJack has. They either referred me to a "top 10% operator" to assist me. That top 10% operator would then go through the very same repertoire as the previous support person had just done. Or, the connection would conveniently disconnect.. Surprise, surprise? Not really. I talked (chatted) with six different operators. The only real information I received was that Magicjack did make that particular change of dropping the need for a password when accessing voice mail when using a magicjack-attached phone or using the laptop dialpad to access voicemail. And, they were, "...very sorry about the inconvenience, but that is just the way it is going to be." "...So sorry." they say! :)

I'll just have to adapt, I suppose... Thanks again!
