Subject: Question about a portable HD radio? |

I bought a portable HD radio today and it charges the lithium battery by plugging a USB into a computer. My company is picky about thumb drives and other media. Will they be able to tell if I charge up at work or "what" I have plugged in? When I charged it on my computer I didn't get any messages and it doesn't load any software...only charges the battery.
By the way, the reception is GREAT on this tiny radio. I got it for work because there is an AM station down the road that has amped up their signal and I could not pick up the AM stations I had been listening to...thankfully one of them is HD also.
Linking to the kind I bought...

Hi Grits,
I've been looking for a portable hd radio. My favorite radio station out of Buffalo went HD. I miss it terribly. I'm confused about whether or not I can plug a unit like this into an auxilary jack and still get an HD signal through another radio including in car radio. The write ups keep saying that it will not recieve HD without the earplug connected. Do you have any information on this?
Thanks
Dan

I'm confused on it as well. I want to know the difference between a HD receiver and a HD radio. Why aren't they the same?
By the way, I can charge my little radio at work without setting off alarm bells (even when it's on) so that part worked out okay, but it still can't get around the nearby AM station that is bleeding all over the channels. The radio works GREAT from home (although it doesn't hold a battery charge as long as they promised) but still not helping me at work.
I'm thinking about saving up for a tabletop model (has an antenna which the little one doesn't have) but they cost about $200, so it will be a while as cash has been going to one urgent situation after another lately...sigh

"although it doesn't hold a battery charge as long as they promised"
That seemed to be the case according to my research so far.
"I'm thinking about saving up for a tabletop model"
Hmmm I should try "table top HD radio" in the search engine.
" cash has been going to one urgent situation after another lately...sigh "
....always seems to be something. We had to replace our stove and our dishwasher within the last six months. The dishwasher was bought with Christmas money as a gift to ourselves. And I had to buy a new lawn mower this spring. Now the paper thin asphalt on our driveway is finally giving way. I've been nursing it for years. Sigh

As long as it is turned off you should be okay to charge it.
My company allows no streaming or, social networks period.

Hi Grits. I think it would depend on the antivirus program being used. When ever I use a USB on my computer my antivirus program will detect it and ask me if I want to scan it. Take Care...Don
