Subject: Does anyone know of a free software program? |

My laptop came with Microsoft office, which after the trail period you have to purchase.
I am getting attached documents from my attorney's offices that I cannot open because of no program to do so with. I have tried to dl AbiWord..which works for me, but whenever I use it as an attachment no one else can seem to open it up.

Oh wow, thanks for pointing that out, I would have never known that! I can see that would have frustrated me getting an email saying, "I can't open this"...grrrrrr... Thank you again!

Google for Open Office. It's free and prettey much duplicates MS Office.

Hi Debb. I have been using Open Office for about 4 years now. It is my default program so it opens a lot of programs that others might use. It isn't all that hard to program and I feel it is on par with MS word.
I had a couple of problems with it when I started using Windows 7. However I just kept using it until Windows 7 finely got the message that it was what I wanted to use. Take Care...Don

Hi Don!
I will be a very happy camper once the download is complete..it does seem to be a rather long download. But, I'm sure it will be worth the wait. If you and Roger are using it and happy with it, then that works for me! I've got Windows Vista (already installed at the time of purchase) and IE 9 so hopefully there will be no issues with that.

I have hear the term Linux however, I don't have a clue what it is other than something that can be used on computers.
