Hi Prinze. The biggest misconception about removing information from your computer is that it 'Might' be recovered. Simply the more you use your computer the more things get rewritten, the less likely it is for a someone to be successful. Using a simple program like CCleaner to wipe free space is a reasonable first step. No, it will not harm your drive in any serious way. Remember that it is only rewriting the designated empty space with zeros or ones or both. I have been using it for many years. It is good program. If you wanted to do some real heavy duty drive wiping, I recommend DBAN or Darik's Boot And Nuke. Take Care...Don

Hi Prinze. Don't use Darik's Boot And Nuke if you just want to clean old crap out of your computer. This program will wipe your entire hard drive. In other words you won't have anything left on your hard drive. Everything will be gone and I do mean everything. Take Care...Don
