Subject: internet question

if no users are logged in but the computer and internet is on, is the internet still running or must someone be logged in for the internet to be running?
Thinking on ways to reduce my internet use should my ISP put a cap in place

Hi Listen'n2 - the caps are due to how much "stuff" you actually download or upload to the Internet. So just being connected to the Internet will not be a problem. It's possible that your computer may have various software that connects to the Internet and downloads things without your knowledge - for example, software updates. But for the most part, as long as you aren't watching movies or downloading lots of music or doing a lot a games etc. you should be fine. Hope this helps.

Dpn't worry about capping for day-to-day broadband use - Only if you
download a shit load of 650mb / 1GB pron movies constantly.

Mobile broadband (for iphones etc) is a bit more finnercky and you can
be chraged for exceeding your allocation esp if you go abroad.

Things are bit different from the ol' days of dial up. Best check with
your ISP to find out what they do/charge if you do exceed your
allocation and what it is.

thanks for the reply Singer.
This is not exactly what I was looking for though. What I wanted to know is my ISP time counter running even if I am not logged in. The comp on and internet connected yet no windows open nor anyone logged on
