as I recall, the bottom fell out after the events of September 11, 2001 ... my first post was on May 1st of 1998 ... JOB ... and everything was about seismic waves ... yes, the let it all hang out board ... but after that turning point it all became hostile ... factions ... brutal language ... the sorting of us by all kinds of meters that had nothing to do with seismic waves coming from beneath us ... too boring for the "avant garde" people ... oh, yes, we all chose sides and that regime exists here today in pale form ... just ghosts of what once was ... Roy ... we even had a falling out ... the banishments ... and now this? shudder to think of it even ... I no longer follow any of it ... to much angst ... yes, the chamber is coming along fine ... do you have food and water stored? as in the days of Noah |

| i think your memory is quite hazy...there has never been "more polite times" on these boards...it used to be way more frack-shish imho, with kelli marie, and tombstone, and trapper, and dona , nemo, ask, mae, doc doom and roy in chesbay, and marty, jefferson zuma, john kettler, berzerkial, amanda, shirley/pa, and grimmlord, tex, james in portland, jtriv, and sgt schulz, and rig and freemind and craig and a great host of others going at it and livening these boards with their presence....remember the shrub years?,...liaho helped for a while, but then i decided i was fueling the rage and bs...although it was fun for a while! but it just got vicious...haven't heard from james in portland for quite a while...many of us have headed back to the source to regroup for the next round...some got banned...some just wandered off...look at the faq page for a pretty comprehensive list of those who have shared here...a great group of folks...but the times were never very polite...maybe a little moreso when i had the time and inclination to be a stricter moderator...but as time has gone on, we pretty much know each other well enough to just have our interfamily squabbles without my need to wade in much...peace brother... |

it was all quite nice and polite before September 11, 2001 when all hell broke loose ... I began posting on the board JOB had on May 1, 1998 and it was all quite lovely ... everyone gave everyone the benefit of the doubt ... there was that one irritating professor from UW but he went south some time ago |

many of us remember times when the shit that happens daily here wouldn’t have been tolerated. in case you have forgotten you wrote rules for these boards and while you let a lot slide personal attacks were not tolerated. none of the badly behaving people who have come and gone over the years have been even close to your disturbed buddy when it comes to personal attacks |

...I agree ryan, believing in respect is often easier than seeing it in others. But it's a good start. That faith, over time, will eventually bring us closer to our goal. Continuous war just delays the process and stifles some of our more positive goals in life. Respect for our fellow travelers makes that journey so much more rewarding. |
