We buy a Honey Krisp apples . The skin is so thin, the taste is out of
this world, and they are easily soft. Mike can eat them. He has no
trouble with chewing them.
They are my all time favorite! Kat

whats an 'envy' charles?.....I do love golden delicious ....yum...made tons of apple sauce years go with some and wowsers....but if you want pie apples the gravenstein are better and there are other varieties, so many its hard to decide these days....I am wanting to plant an apple tree out back too....not sure the landlords would like that though...lol....

Went looking for the Envy apple.
Seems it is a New Zealand apple that has just now begun to be grown in the U.S.
Couldn't find any trees that were for sale, though.
Someone recommended Gala and Braeburn as being very close to the Envy.

I see Kat recommends Honeycrisp. It's just like she describes. Really!

You will have to consider your climate when choosing an apple or any other fruit tree. Here in the deep South we're limited to short chilling hours required for bloom and fruit set.
Good luck!

when we were together she would cut up an apple each day. mostly they were red delicious but they are hard for me to chew. I found the envy from new Zealand is wonderfully sweet and not to hard to bite with my dentures. I was thinking of a yellow delicious to plant in the back yard but don't know how they taste yet but I know they yield a lot of apples. chas

Yes you will like Golden Delicious for easy eating. You would like
Gravensteins very much too. They are too tender to pack and ship
commercially - all that manhandling involved- is why not seen in
stores. But my favorite for flavor both eating and baking. The tree
bore many many apples too.
