"...It becomes less a matter of IF there is a bad-ending out there; just a matter of when the brick wall shows up.

The personal problem is: What can anyone actually do about it?

The answer comes down to a single concept: Prepare.

OK, what do you prepare for? Zombies in the streets? Global weather events? Earthquakes and crustal shifts? Revelations about aliens? Yet-another lying politician? Financial collapse? Pandemic disease? Slow-speed radiation poisoning? Global online revolution? The list covers the waterfront.

Prepping – as a folder-heading – is still the only response that makes sense. It’s like the word “Brace!” shouted just before the moment of impact in a car accident. The crack-up of the global order, however, is a much more drawn-out thing. Yet it will be as damaging – and possibly fatal – for a lot of us.

That is one reason why I watch people like Shawn James, he's already went belly up and lost everything, and so now he starts over again, living off the land and building bush master style off very little he's had to buy to make an homestead for himself. He eats the venison and he talked about shooting some grouse so he doesn't have to raise chickens and not doing all them
in so he has an supply of them in his own back yard if
need be. He makes his own coffee off an substitute in the
woods, and knows about fiddleheads to eat for asparagus, and of course berries in season also. He makes his own bread once an week and he generally ahreas all his
receipes also. His refrigerator is in his cabin underground with an thermometer for the temperature
and he has no electricity, so there's only his wood
stove for heat in winter...his project this summer
has been an outdoor kitchen...with large grill, rocket stove to hold his coffee pot and is making an pizza
oven also. After this he hopes to make an little better
guest house with an view of the Lake. He is doing it
in such an way, if anyone took these things from him,
he would know how to go someplace else to start over again. Bush masters are those men whom take off with
just an machete and hammer and completely build their own cabins, often making squared off nails...to do that
with....rock foundations, drainage systems, and fireplaces...one cabin I saw them build even had an
side room to winter animals in and out of the cold.
Never waste and thing...including hides...for Shane
James they are his curtains at night, and his wall
décor during the day. He's getting modern now with two solar pqnels for lights at night. But you kind of know, he's been there and he's surviving now on his own. AS he calls it his self-reliance.
