I thought I'd tell you the highlights because often people ask how much we spend at the grocery store. Why I buy things as I do.
To start with...I came home with 14 envelopes of gravy, turkey gravy, Chicken GRavy and Brown Gravy...I bought them because they were 48 and 45 cents respectifully, the bullion cubes I have also, but I find them very salty to use them, I complimented the Gravy packets with containers of low sodium broth..in both chx and Beef..they were $2.09 each...and help to add tomy own soup making...I also bought one half case of diced tomatoes at 58 cent an can..with an storage life into 2019. I also bought 12 cans of black beans and 12 cans of cut green beans..first 67 cents and green beans 58 cents...these were in store specials. Kind of getting tired o buying the mixed lettaces in packages, as we tend to use them sometimesbut many seem to go to waste in ways also, not as frsh by the time we get to them, so bought 3 heads of lettace, so I can cut them into 4th's for our salad needs...top them with sada dressing and dressings and sprinke with bacon or ham, and other things. I bought two assorted cass of Progresso soups of asorted varties also....$1.18 per can..pop top type. They came in Chicken noodlem Tomato Tortilla, New England Clam Chowder, loaded baked potato with bacon, Chicken an dumplings...6 cans of Bubblebee tuna at 68 cents ab can that I add to it everytime I shop. Natural applesauce at $2.18..big containers...in store special...and an bunch of other items but no in bulk, many on sale....I also bought in the fruit...low sugar cranberry juice and 6 packet containers of Strawberry Jello with peaces..on sale, I could no tbuy th epeaches for the whole price of these. Many of my foods as you notice is quick to eat. I bought two frozen 12 packs of breakfast burrito's also for $9.78...they sell them at Taco Bell I think for one dollar now (?). So goes, but in all I spent $279.04 today. For me in store speicals are an on going thing year around these days. I don' tknow how many items in all I bought...but the receipt tape is as long as my arm is.

Nice.
To add an observation about prices...if you live in or near a university town...I'm not sure if it's consistent around the U.S., but locally right around the time students come back and start moving in, most of the canned goods go on sale for about half off their usual price.
So about Mid august to early September and then again around mid January.
Also, football season and homecoming week.
If you don't mind the crowds, you can usually get some good prices for things.

you certainly are thrifty! my only concern is that the products you have are big commercial ones - GMOd, chemicals, additives, colorings, etc. Like the Progresso soup, the envelopes of gravy, jello, etc. Could be contributing to health issues/concerns?

I generally don' tpick products like that, but I'll have to check them out...most of these are store brand items. One thin I really look for is the salt content...because of my heart condition. Though I buy potassium to help it along. Hope to have another thyroid test here soon again also. When we were kids....all our stores had huge fall pantry sales...because those were the days that if you didn't can it yourself, it could be in short supply come the following Spring....so EVERYONE had an pantry and by the time freezers came out, had an freezer with half an beef in it, an Pork Package and frozen chickens. I leave the center bottom rack of my freezer just for an huge bag of ice, should electricity goes out also. Back in those days we pre-ordered our bulk meat, and they cut it to our specifications also. It was pricey back then, but outrageous now, if you can find anybody growing stock to be butchered these days. WE had one store in town that the front part of it was like an mini-mart today and the rest of the store was all freezer units in baskets for people to rent. Of course they also put in generators so they never worried about electrical outtages.
