Subject: Haidakhan ashram in Crestone Colorado

A friend and me visited this ashram many years ago.
The people there were delightfully kind and welcoming.
It is an ashram dedicated to Babaji, the eternal Saint
mentioned by Yogananda in his book "Autobiography of a
Yogi".
The area is high in the Rockies so you will have to
acclimatize to stay there long. There are some very
nice hiking trails and reports of long dead saints
showing up do happen.
Once, during an early morning fire ceremony, people
started noticing a white robed figure high up in the
mountains, A visiting Hindu religious figure claimed
that it was Sri Yukteswar, Yogananda's guru. BTW, the
morning fire ceremonies that were done at Crestone were
exactly the same as the ceremony done at Carlin at
Rolling Thunder's camp.
A few years later, a woman closely associated with Self
Realization Fellowship contacted Rolling Thunder
telling. him that Sri Yukteswar had urged her to seek
his help. The woman claimed that RT not only knew all
kriyas but that SRF had a very opinion of him. I guess
he got around.

Sounds like a beautiful experience, Joe... ;)

When I first moved to Sedona in '88 I was housesitting
for a lady who rented out rooms. At one point two were
for rent, and a guy came to look at one room and a gal,
the other, at the same time. And as the whole household
watched in delight, the more they chatted and got to know
each other, they fell madly in love right there and then.
;)

One part of their conversation involved realizing that
they had each met, and had conversation with, the same
eccentric being the other had, but in different places
and several years apart. One had met him in a village in
the Himalayas, the other had met him while living in the
Rockies...elderly man, exact same description, same name,
who had shared the same tenets of teaching... ;)

Universal wisdom finds its way into all our lives and
paths, in as many ways as are necessary, eh?

Certainly it was destined. I wonder if the elderly
gentleman was a yogi of some kind?

BTW, the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram is not that far in Taos.
Both ashrams exude powerful energy and expect
manifestations if you go. Ram Dass, of course brought the
teachings of Neem Karoli Baba to the West.

When asked by people how to reach God, Neem Karoli Baba
replied "Love people; serve people; feed people." Easy
right?

The easiest! Literally! But the human/egoic mind can't
quite grasp or process something *that simple*...lol...it
has to complicate it with literally millions of
*conditions* and rationale to either condone or deny doing
so... ;(

Yeah, I'm sure that's a pretty rarified energy to breathe,
but visiting even a nearby ashram won't be on my agenda any
time soon, will hafta just breathe it from here! ;)

Each person has their own unique path to follow and no one
can judge them for that. I am not associated with any
group either. A medicine man in SF has offered to let me
stay with him for two weeks but I have too many
commitments right now.

Absolutely, Joe! For me the fact that The Divine translates
Itself into as many *ways of understanding* as there are
human beings seeking It is Its most miraculous aspect to
celebrate... ;)

May your journey thrive!
