Power of being alone| Sadhguru on alone| alone vs
others| alone people

Mar 2, 2023
In this vedio Sadhguru described how alone people are
more balanced than the people who are in the company of
people

In my experience many people in our society seem to underestimate the
value of solitude. This became strikingly clear during the covid lockdown
period. I continually read about all of the trauma and depression people were
experiencing because they couldn't maintain their 'normal' social activity. I
also talked to a surprising number of people, like myself who thrived, having
the ability to focus on learning new skills & developing existing ones, without
the constant pull to go & do something else.

It seems to me that periods of solitude are invaluable for a healthy, balanced
life. Learning how to be self-reliant, learning how to focus one's energies
creatively, getting to know one's self, I think requires some periods of
solitude for most of us. That's just based on my experience and observing
the lives and behavior of others. I've known people, family members, for
instance who can not tolerate living alone & never do. It's just too
uncomfortable. Go ask a hundred artists- painters, poets, novelists how
valuable solitude is. I'm betting many would feel frustrated & unfulfilled
without spending solid chunks of their lives in solitude. Not necessarily every
minute, but quality time, without distractions and interruptions.

I didn't here that guy suggesting one should spend every minute of life in
solitude. I think the idea of cultivating solitude and feeling comfortable with it
is a good thing. Maybe his message will plant some seeds.

Thanks for sharing, pamela...

Here's my take, FWIW... ;) More and more these days, to
the point where it's pretty much reframing my entire way
of seeing Spiritual Truth, I'm realizing that The
Divine/All That Is/God-Goddess/God-Jesus/Infinite Love
has designed an impeccably wise, perfectly timed and
uniquely pharmaceutical Design for each and everyone's
Soulgrowth... (Still working to graciously embrace
Knowing that's so even for those living racist/fascist
idealogies; hopefully I'll get there.) Not only are our
soulgrowth blueprints designed from a level of perfection
we cannot begin to imagine, it is so foolproof that,
*despite very convincing appearances*, it can't be
sabotaged. Not really.

So...while I always love testimonials from folks with
much under their belts within the experience of solitude,
extolling how much they've received/learned/been brought
Home Within by it...anytime one particular angle of
spiritual soulgrowth/learning (via aloneness/solitude in
this instance) is being elevated above what appears to be
its opposite (spending most time w/others, here), I can
only smile... There are sooo many in solitude who
definitely do not possess the capacities Sadhguru is
speaking of there...

For some, attaining all the disciplines/practices
necessary to avail oneself of all that's accessible
spiritually within silence/solitude is indeed ideal and
perfect; for others, engaging that would be the literal
opposite of what they're here to learn! And knowing
whether it's right for you is no mystery -- if you feel
drawn to solitude, and you keep feeling drawn deeper
despite the challenges of the practice, then, there you
are. If you're initially compelled and then lose
momentum, even with repeated efforts & reboots, that does
not translate to "failure," though the intellect/"higher
mind" would do its best to convince you so. It simply
means a different direction is ideal, now, and perhaps
you come back to solitude when it calls to you again.

This is a lovely offering from Sadhguru's own experience
of Solitude, and his observations of those for whom this
path is perfect, who've gained mastery within it. I can
certainly understand your relating to this personally,
pamela... But when he tries to broadbrush-claim that
those who spend more time alone are "more
balanced/clearer" than those who do not, he's simply
revealing his own limitations of understanding that his
own context of soulgrowth does not translate to a *Truth*
that holds water across the board of humanity, so to
speak...

Life is so much easier when you have choices. I do love
my solitude but I also like to go to lunch with good
friends on occasion. As mentioned some people, like those
in a nursing home, may not have that choice.

Good topic! Working at the low
income senior apartment complex for
14 years taking care of the grounds,
I remember how alone many of the
residents were. Most of them seldom
had visitors from family or friends,
and if they did, it was brief. Some
would go down to have lunch at the
dining hall, food that was prepared
by the jail. Their TVs were their
seven days a week source of relief
from loneliness. For many of them,
loneliness followed then into their
last breath of life. It's almost
like wild animals who go die alone,
away from the pack. Same with the
tribes of the past, the Elders would
pick out a spot that they liked in
nature, and would remain there as
their tribe went to their new
location. There they remained alone
until their last breathe. But let me
just say this regardless of what the
video is trying to bring across,
there's nothing wrong not being
alone, it's perfectly fine. In
truth, nobody is really alone,
never. You will always have those in
the spirit around you no matter
what, whether it's your dog or love
one's, they're always around you.
And then you have your higher self
that's connected to All, you're
never alone. It is only when one
Psych themselves into thinking their
alone, you yourself trick yourself
into loneliness like a guru does.
When I'm out in nature bye myself, I
truly know that I'm not alone as I
kiss the ancient tree next to me, or
when I conversed with One. Life is
so full of beauty, how is it even
possible to be alone, when you are
so beautiful.

right you are and some thrive on being alone while
others thrive on spending time with others.
I prefer alone times and much of it. I get overwhelmed
by being with others.... and been that way since a
child.

Aloneness is different from loneliness.

Aloneness creates; loneliness destroys.
