St. Brigid is the patron saint of babies, blacksmiths, boatmen, cattle farmers, children whose parents are not married, children whose mothers are mistreated by the children's fathers, Clan Douglas, dairymaids, dairy workers, fugitives, Ireland, Leinster, mariners, midwives, milkmaids, nuns, poets, the poor, poultry farmers, poultry raisers, printing presses, sailors, scholars, travelers, and watermen. Here's a busy saint!

Friday, February 3, 2023—the exact halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Winter is the shortest of the four seasons, lasting 88.99 days.
The astronomical cross quarter day is halfway between solstice and equinox which was so before there the RCC's "St. Brigid"... before it was fixed to the RCC papal Gregorian calendar for man made religious purposes. In the northern hemisphere it is called Imbolc (spring birthing), in the southern hemisphere it is Lughnasadh (fall funeral games).
The cross quarter day by actually counting the days and that is on February 3rd in the northern hemisphere (February 4th in the southern hemisphere).

The Midpoint Of Winter: When And What Is It?
Wondering when we're at the halfway point of winter, on our way to spring? Many think it's Groundhog Day. We explain.
When Is The Midpoint Of Winter?
Many people think the midpoint of winter is always Groundhog Day, but it varies. If you check the latest edition of the Farmers’ Almanac, you’ll see that it’s Friday, February 3, 2023—the exact halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.
Winter is the shortest of the four seasons, lasting 88.99 days. It is shortest because at this time of year, Earth is at its closest point in its orbit to the Sun (known as perihelion). So when an object is closest to the Sun, it moves fastest in its orbit; gravity insists upon that. That is fundamental natural law.
Conversely, we are farthest from the Sun in early July, so we are moving slowest in our orbit. Which is why summer is the longest season, lasting just over 93 days.
