...I respect your experiences with the nature and use
of ego etc. I began my spiritual journey in earnest
in 1971. I chose a slow steady path that went on for
many years.

In the mid eighties it accelerated unexpectedly when
I "died" while working early one morning as an
overnight janitor in a Sacramento bowling alley. I
was virtually embracing a very large commercial grade
vacuum cleaner in the billiards room when I realized
my life was being taken from me. This life altering
event lasted several minutes after which I found
myself "still alive" but not the person I was before.

I have since believed it was my normal "ego" that
left that morning. For the record, I was alone at
the time.

It obviously changed my life, insulated me somewhat
from the criticism of others, and definitely changed
how I perceived the needs and gifts of others.

I still obviously have a working "ego" but it also is
obviously operating on different settings than
earlier in my life.

While "truth and lies" are important in a traditional
sense, how we treat and respect each other in our
mutual journeys through this life is more important
to me than being technically right or wrong.

It was a gift that helped me immeasurably during a
period when I worked with severely at risk youth here
in Hawthorne.

I appreciate you shifting our conversation in this
direction.

I wish this was true with you Lee, but honestly that has
not been my experience.
Perhaps it is your goal? If so, I wish for you the best
to attain it.
