...when I was 20, my life hit a low point, had flunked out of Junior College in Sacramento, had lost most of my best friends and the Vietnam War draft was breathing down my back.
Somehow my mom recognized how deep my life had fallen and managed to get me accepted to Westminster College in Salt Lake City near where she and dad had grown up.
I boarded the eastbound California Zephyr and found myself assigned to the seat next to a young lady named Jean who said she was a returning senior to Brigham Young University in Provo, the next stop past Salt Lake.
We spent the next 17 hours in the front seat of the vista dome car where she managed to put my own life back together and prepare me for the next four years of life at Westminster. I got off the train at 630 the next morning during an incredible thunderstorm and she stayed on.
I later wrote her at Brigham Young to thank her for reassembling my life. The reply from Brigham young informed me they had no such student.
Was she an angel? Pretty sure she was.
Have I ever been an angel for others that needed what I needed?
Yes to that as well...
...I'm pretty sure that's how the system is set up.
