If we can find a way to live inside of a deep
gratitude for our own undeserved grace and mercy,
past hurts have very little power to cause us pain
in any lasting way. They are not worth our time or
energy. They are mere sludge and dredge in the great
school and journey of life. The gratuitous
surrendering of hurts (“forgiveness”), the refusal
to make them our identity, is almost the heart of
the matter. If you do not transform your pain, you
will with 100 percent certainty transmit it to
others. And, I am afraid, you will have pain! Both
the Buddha and Jesus seem to say that pain is part
of the deal, and its overcoming is the very shape of
enlightenment.”

interesting tidbit in that which I have spoken with several people about is the role/etc that our 'sign' has in that area of being able to forgive and forget. Some 'signs' such as scorpio, never seem to forgive and forget to their detriment and to the others....I am so thankful, being pieces, that I even forget that I was mad at someone or what for?...LOL.....gives me a peace that others search for and don't realize it is 'in them' to find it.
that being said, people (and critters too) who have been abused, physically, mentally, or emotionally have that hurt so embedded in their psyche as well as in their cells, memories/etc, that it takes super human efforts to help themselves cleanse and heal and many never do heal. They have 'buttons' in them that something or someone can 'push' and it is like an explosion of a land mine inside of them, pushing them over the edge.
a deep subject....not easily dealt with.
