That gave me chills. My son likes death metal and is
going to Chelsea Wolfe tomorrow. What you have is more
my taste although still a bit dark, at least that song

Well, it is essentially a funeral song... a dirge...
And if it's one thing I've discovered over the years,
the Scandihoovian perspective, mindset, and or Spirit
does a really good dirge... well that and Melancholy...
;)
And it's funny you should mention Death Metal, Wardruna
was formed by a Norwegian musician named Gaahl, who has
fronted a number of Death Metal bands and projects...
he's since left Wardruna to work on more Death Metal
projects...

If you google death metal, doom metal and the like
there are tons of Scandinavian bands in that genre.
Its like they invented it.

Death Metal, yes, the Scandinavians invented it hands
down... ok, maybe not, there was/is a band called
Celtic Frost that goes back to the '80s that I think
set the stage for the subgenre... but the Northmen
definitely owned it and made it theirs... ;)
Doom Metal though, that's a different animal, Doom,
Sludge, Drone, and Stoner are all terms used to
describe a music scene that has bands from the US,
England, and at least one from Germany that I know
of, that the one common theme that runs throughout is
a definite influence from Black Sabbath, only heavier
and often slower paced... I've recently developed
quite a fondness for the genre... bands like Electric
Wizard, Sleep, Monolord, Acid King, Ancestors, Uncle
Acid and the Deadbeats, Witch, Windhand... along with
a slew of others, but the ones I named are my
favorites so far...

Amon Duul, often, or not, imitated on down the pike, by morphing via the 100 monkey syndrome influence if nothing else, into youth consciousness, particularly in Europe since they were German based, and virtually unknown in the U.S. during the early years. All the U.S had in this vein, for instance, was bands such as Pink Floyd, who were no match for this band.
Amon Duul, splintered into Amon Duul II, who actually set a large footprint so to speak, for what was to become ‘Metal’, et al. The Scorpions Lonesome Crow, coming to mind at the moment, picked up on that thread, along with some others. [Amon Duul, was more of a cacophony of deliberate, unstructured, noise-mania]. In order to pigeon hole the genre back then, it became known as Kraut Rock, sub: Space Rock; which covered many bands and styles under that umbrella.
Amon Duul II’s earlier albums [‘69-‘72, also known for extended ‘jams’] are the ones thought to influence/set the ‘Metal’ gears in motion; fueled by increasing [global] negativity as it was to manifest, and, continues to do so. The ‘Metal-morphed’ trend continues in Germany, with increasing ‘raw’, guttural, intensity, sexual displays and so on—so, even becoming natural and numb, to the stimulation starved audience.
Needless to say, they were originally, angst-ridden, wholly, anti-establishment, sometimes with keen insight.
