She looked almost like a grasshopper, had lost a leg and bit of a cover. But she had to go, was bringing in the laundry and she was resting on a shirt. As carefully as i could, in leaf hopper time, much slower than grasshopper or human, the critter was gently moved with apologies to a nearby post. Laundry and day went on.
Another day, another load of laundry. This time the unmistakably same leaf hopper flew on the line to watch me hang clothes. We chatted and on to the next chore.
Even prayer flags get old. When they do, they get burned with more prayers. Out with this chore and who should fly over to keep me company? The same leaf hopper. What a gift she is.

I'm glad the sassy lizard I met on my front porch yesterday was a far piece away from your clothes line.

What do you think she was saying? I read the post that "insect biomass was down as much as 80%" with deep sorrow.

Thank you for sharing, Mitra, I love your story, and the beauty of how you received all you experienced... These precious visitations and synchronicities, often delightfully mysterious, feed our souls like nothing else, yes? ~!!!~
Tiny sync here w/me as just this morning I took down aging prayer flags I'd hung on the balcony this past spring, from a prompt to burn them this time just as you do before replacing them... ;-> On a couple occasions during my years here, I've brought prayer flags I'd hung that were just beginning to fade/come apart from the huge Sun/wind factor they're exposed to, where I live, to the grounds of the Amitabha Peace Park Stupa in Sedona, and tied them to trees I felt led toward, to continue offering prayers and returning to the Earth from which they were made, in that way...
Only just this time, did I feel prompted to burn them as you've mentioned, which I'll do as Samhain timing dials in more tightly...
Thank you again Mitra... ;)

Its good to know the winds bring prayers! Thank you.
Truly, sychronicities feed our souls. One of the greatest gifts of nature is watching or being part of species interactions. Truly a step closer to all that is is hidden in those moments of play.

According to the Foundation of the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition, the 25th is a good day to hang prayer flags, although they schedule from an Indian time zone, so its off a few hours from ours.
