ahhh... number 21...been by there long time ago, was raining if I
recall correctly...I used to live a hop skip and a jump from
Destrehan Plantation (oak trees in image)...I visited so many times
I thought about putting in an application for tour guide but I had
second thoughts upon wearing those heavy garments in hot
weather...loverly places on River Road in LA.

Thanks for sharing the interesting topic of trees!

Well someone posted about wind in trees... trees are my go to for all things spiritual. Especially the Oak.
I love the oaks and spent many childhood years climbing them and having special relationship with them.

THe pic shows quite a different kind of Oak we have in S Calif. Its got the leafy things on the trunks. Those are lovely. Are they leaves on the trunks then? That would have been a lovely job. Always wanted to get a job in a nursery working with plants and trees. Or the forestry. But life took different turns. I do have a boy cousin who got a job in the forestry.
The S California oaks are dying off in mass where I used to live in San Diego, due to the long drought, and some beetle. And I'm sure all the spraying been going on from the skies.

These are Live Oaks they grow in the deep south (see wiki link) I
have one in my front yard by the curb of the road. I used to have
two but one was planted too close to the house by the builder and
started to encroach upon the utility connections (pipes, wires, etc.)
that are buried underground ...also the roots were pushing up the
sidewalk and driveway so I had to have it removed cause if it bust
any utilities of mine own or neighbors I would be responsible for
the total repair cost being the owner of the tree.

The tap root was so deep it has to be gored out or the tree will
start growing again from the remaining roots shooting up sprouts
below the soil. A lot of us here in the hood had to do it because of
the way the trees were planted....they get BIG and it happens fast.

I still have the Live Oak by the curb and the homeowners
association I pay dues to trims that one from underneath (I wish
they trimmed the top though) so no limbs are too close to the
ground/road as in the photo I shared at the plantation. We have
what I call swamp squirrels that come and bury the acorns in my
plant beds and I often have to dig up little oaks that begin
sprouting. Live Oaks do not have leaves on the trunk that I ever
recall and I have seen ...I think it maybe moss you are speaking of
(?)...also little ferns, will take root in some of the spaces,
etc....bromeliads, of course lots of Spanish Moss.

We have/had so many Live Oaks here at one time the acorns were
everywhere and I mean everywhere when it was their season. I was
outside everyday when they were dropping trying to sweep them
up so no one would get hurt by walking on them. It was one nutty
neighborhood so to speak. When cars went down the road it was
quite crunchy.

It had crossed my mind in my youth the notion of being a forest
ranger. Up to a few years ago I thought of working at a local
nursery but it's SO HOT here in the summer...plus for me the air
quality is not satisfactory so as to be outside a lot on some days
with the pollen count as wall as pollution factor....Especially during
a drought it's worse and too much urban sprawl. I have a favorite
nursery here that has utilized a small old cottage and it's
grounds...and to the side of it is a grove of old massive Live Oaks.
It's one of my favorite places to go ...alas I can't seem to go
without putting a huge dent in my wallet.

I just did watch that video of the music of trees for some reason I
missed. I am not surprised I known since i was three or even
before born about trees. Once when I was about 3-4 years old I
was sitting under a huge tree in the yard contemplating this little
necklace an aunt gave me and told me of what Jesus said about
the mustard seed. The charm on the necklace was a clear
heart...with a mustard seed in it. I remember it looked just like
the picture above. (I think it was Sarah Coventry)

As I was looking at the charm and thinking on the mustard seed
parable I fell asleep in the shade of the big tree. I had a vision I
never forget and it was as if an angel was living/abiding in the
tree...a part of the tree as if standing in the center of it like a pillar
...The angel was watching over me and was feminine ...she wore
robes of red, purple and royal blue...the colors I remember
specifically.

Thanks, for some reason the trees you showed on your post were covered what looked to be leaves, but yes, it could be the moss. It certain part of S Calif, we had the Live oaks, growing just like that and huge ones. I had a special one I called my castle. Limbs so big I could walk flat footed on the branches.
Yes, the mustard seed parable. Thanks for sharing your special story.
Well, the fire smoke is here, all around us we have the lightning fires. Very smoky now-had to turn on air cleaner and lose the windows. THis is not my favorite time of year. Tho the fires are far enough away, still the smoke is bad. I pray they all stay safe.

Looking on the image again I see now what you refer to I
think...looks to be a type of fern or maybe some sort of
vine...there is nothing like that on the trees in Florida and I can't
remember now about the LA oaks they had lots of symbiotic
relationships with other plants though as I recall ....I think the
Spanish Moss adornment averted a lot of my attention as when I
moved there it fascinated me the most. There is nothing like that
on the oaks where I am but they may be too young and when I
really looked at the ones by the nursery they were a bit sad and
again I mostly note all the Spanish Moss.

It's no fun when we have fires nearby in Florida either even at a
distance the burning smell and smoke travels...sometimes other
stuff.

It's been raining in Florida for a change like it used to...has not
been that way in a long time...it was needed as was way too dry for
too long.

Prayers for the safety of the trees !

Here is a close up image of ferns growing out of a tree which is
what I think the leaf looking foliage on the oaks in the larger
image I shared initially in this thread seems to be.

I have a few ferns in my plant beds that are shady that took root
from the spores in the marsh out back ...I like them so much and
am always glad to see a new one.

Could be that. That pic of the large oaks are lovely.
I noted again the trees had both fern and moss on them.
