Subject: Looking for an author/book: Reincarnation

I was remembering this the other night in relation to a
current situation.

The author basically noted that reincarnation was not
(according to their belief....or rather what this author
thought they knew...they wrote about it as if it were
fact) a process of linear development, but that
frequently someone who might do great good and was
compassionate and understanding in one life, might be
awful in the next, in order to learn what it was like to
operate within such a framework of logic and behavior.

Thus according to this author if Jesus existed, and
followed cycles of Incarnation, even He could come back
as someone harsh and judgmental, condemning and lacking
in compassion.

I know that many (though not all, or necessarily even
most) who subscribe to the belief in reincarnation also
subscribe to the nonlinear development mode (or
nonlinear in terms of our understanding of good and bad,
right and wrong, and indeed time itself), so that might
not be enough to go by.

Not sure how many authors go so far as to make the Jesus
comparison though. So that might narrow it down
considerably.

When I read it, I was in Jr. High, which would make it a
minimum of 30 years old, and I WANT to say that it had
been out for a considerable length of time before that,
that, perhaps a few decades. But I could be wrong on
that last part.

I want to reread it or something similar, if I can track
it down. It might help me be a bit more tolerant of
certain people on their own journeys, who tend to get
under my skin when I should just ignore them.

When I get irritated and even angered by mostly harmless
eccentricism then that suggests that I need to work on
my own development.

I've read a few books on reincarnation, many online
articles, and numerous discussions with those of
similar spiritual beliefs, and have to say there's a
number of authors/researchers who have written about it
being non-linear.
I think the best information out there is that which
suggests even highly evolved souls will choose to
incarnate into horrid situations for reasons not only
for their own growth, but for others to learn and grow.
Yes, just like your example of Jesus.

I don't know if this is the book you meant, but my
favourite at this point is one I read almost 20 years
ago, "Life Between Life" by Joel Whitton and Joe
Fisher. It was written in 1986.
Fisher also wrote one earlier titled "The Case for
Reincarnation".

Life Between Life focuses more on the in-between realms
refered to many times in the book as the 'bardo'. It's
a quick and easy read.

Perhaps this link will give you the answer you seek as
a number of authors and researchers are quoted...it's a
good read!
