Walk This Path
by Matt Kahn

I may not know
What you’ve been through
But it doesn’t make
My pain untrue
Beyond your gender
Or your hue
I will walk
This path with you
Our race may differ
But aren’t we
Born as One
And meant to be
Aligned in Truth
With our love free
There’s "I" in you
And you in me
So won’t you walk
This path with me
Our bond eternal
My sister and brother
Judgment isn’t race
But beliefs in other
Until we shine
Separation can smother
To inspire awakening
One way or another
There’s only One
I’ve done the math
Count it out
To heal each wrath
Our Soul’s rebirth
A cosmic bath
That brings us here
To walk life’s path
The time is now
I checked the clock
But can’t begin
Until we talk
It’s for our good
Despite the shock
Thy will be done
As One we walk

The irony is that people work so very hard to individuate from
another. From clothes chosen, from counter cultures rising up
against another perceived not wanting to be the same as "them.
The worst thing you can tell a teenager is " you're just like your mom,
you're just like your dad". When the simple message is , be kind,
when in doubt be kind. That is the thing we often forget we share...is
the ability to be kind. Everyone is fighting a hard battle.
The double message often going unspoken, is what lures people
away from their own inner compass, which would naturally lead to
kindness, and compassion. Humanity. A respect for the
humanness,. We are weakened when we forget, as a group, but first
as an individual.
