I have a real question, because I do want to understand the context on this board. What is your personal definition of "spiritual?" And if you can, please give me an example of such.
I come from a religious background but have taken my own path out of traditional religion, am of Norwegian heritage, and am trying to figure where I fit somewhere between Christianity and perhaps some kind of earth based aspects and wisdoms.
I live in a town with an Indian population that respects and still follows many of their earth traditions, keeping their unique language alive.
I have come a long way. But thinking of spirituality, I'm having a hard time finding a definition that fits what I am feeling. Perhaps your imput could help. Thanks.

Considering most of our interactions, I hope you'll understand that I naturally suspect some kind of subterfuge... but I will answer honestly, truthfully...
For Spiritual, for me it is based upon the experiential... from the seemingly mundane in Nature to the odd, or Wyrd... and once aware, to embrace it and seek it out, from a simple walk in the woods looking to signs and portents, or through various practices to induce a state open to said signs and portents... ranging from the perception of a message or knowing, to direct interaction with the Gods...
As for your situation, just based on two concepts you mention, Christianity, and Earth Based... I would suggest looking at a branch of Druidry some of which is based on both... Look for works by Ross Nichols (I'm presently reading his "The Book of Druidry"), and another author, Phillip Carr-Gomm...
As for your town and Indian (I'm assuming Native Americans, or do you mean Hindu?;))... if you're friends with one (or more) approach the subject and see if they are willing to share what they know with you...

I thank you for answering honestly and truthfully, despite your suspicions of my motives (this query is putting politics and personality aside ;) It was really an honest question. And I appreciate your answer.
I will look into those books and writers when I have reached a certain place in my journey. Honing my own inner growth, I have felt the need to search on my own first and then after the fact, read or listen to others and their experiences and compare so as not to be unduly influenced. It's a journey of "self" enlightenment, so I am learning to grow and trust "self" will find the truth I ask for.
For me, I found that ego is a wonderful source to truth only when I bind it with an honesty that is not for the faint hearted. I don't always like what I learn, but it keeps the path clear and clean. That's just my experience. For others it may be different.
Yes it is American Indian. A small group that have remained in these mountains and seek to keep alive their heritage and beliefs. Most have embraced Christianity, so it is not always easy to sift through those influences to find the gems their people believed before. There is a lot of superstition as well, not always conducive to great enlightenment, but a window.
From piecing together bits and pieces of what you have shared of your journey, we have had some similar experiences. But we have gleaned differing viewpoints from them. I don't find that conflicting actually. Rather, I find it fascinating. Humans are so complex. But I do believe we are here for each other, stepping stones n the journey.
Again, thanks for sharing.

Glad I could be of some little help...
Native Americans and embraced Christianity... yeah, I didn't want to go there with suggesting to talk to them, that religion (separate from the Spiritual Path that is within it) has had a long time to contaminate every culture and their True Spiritual Paths it has come in contact with... it typically a lot to sift through...
Shared journeys, similar experiences, and differing viewpoints... well sure, we're all on the same road, that being figuring out the Truth, yet the individual nature of the journey leads in various directions... but if one stays the course through all the pitfalls of fantasies and lies along the way, Truth eventually wins out...
Oh, and I'm glad the attempt at sidetracking the conversation didn't turn either of us from it... ;)

I was asked a question of Spiritual significance and I responded in kind... if you're speaking of something else, I suggest you respond to that post and or conversation directly, or is old age is making you too feeble minded to keep things straight... thanks...

you are on the verge of taking a long walk on a short pier...i responded on this thread because the other posts were deleted due to your penchant for off-topic narcissism...thought you could figure that out but see it was a stretch for you to do so...but i'm sure you know what you are fishing for...
