I don't support elon. He's an ass..and I think they're communication satellites. But, he's going to launch them whether I approve or not. I just enjoy the spectacle of a spectacular launch seen from my porch now and then (Falls under the category of: "well there's something you don't see every day).
The other thing is..when these things launch in southern california, and a large population see a fireball going across the sky--they wonder "wtf is that?"..they think it's a UFO, a fireball or missile... A plane exploding and crashing or just get scared. So, it's good to know what is going on over your head (whether one approves or not).
It's information. It's knowing what is going on in the world around us.
Starlink satellites are the ones he offered to Ukraine to help with their communication..then wanted to back charge them for? Again, what an ass.

I see, thanks for your reply. The gov'ment doesn't seem to mind he's doing all of this, and should be more protest about it. Btw, I looked up more info on it and yes they are comm. satellites for high speed internet to try to cover the whole planet. See post above -

the 9:40pm launch was postponed to 10:25. So we gathered..binoculars, laptop (for live narrative) and eager to see it..and 5 seconds before launch: Abort
Thanks Elon! No blue checkmark for you.

Well..the 10:25pm launch last night aborted at 5 seconds to lift off.
There are two more launch windows tonight (for anyone in the south or central california area)...
"SpaceX is targeting Wednesday, July 19 at 9:09 p.m. PT (04:09 UTC on July 20) for a Falcon 9 launch of 15 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. If needed, an additional launch opportunity is also available at 10:00 p.m. PT (05:00 UTC on July 20).
This is the 10th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched NROL-87, NROL-85, SARah-1, SWOT, Transporter-8, and four Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship, which will be stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff."
link above.
The evening launches can be seen from all over southern california and should launch from Lompoc area and fly south...looking like a fireball rolling across the sky for a few minutes. They're often mistaken for fireballs.
If you live outside the region, you can watch it live at link.
We will try again tonight.
