Near X-Flare May 16, 2023 @ 17:00 UTC Well, that escalated quickly. A near X-Flare (M9.6) was just observed off the southeast limb peaking at 16:43 UTC (May 16). The source, a likely sunspot region will begin to turn into view during the next 36 hours. Any eruption associated with this event should be directed away from our planet. Higher solar activity on the horizon perhaps!
