whoa..you understand the astronomical chances of one hitting your house..one big enough to set it on fire?
A) The man and his wife should stay away from lightning storms
B) They should immediately buy some lotto tickets.
A silver lining could be if they could actually find that meteor (if it wasn't vaporized in the impact). He could probably buy another house with what it would sell for.
The topic is discussed on the second clip in the post I made on Earthwatchers...you may have already visited it but link provided anyways and for further reference to the topic started on this board.

There Will Be Signs.
For some time the news headlines about the military activities at Kherson city were making me reflect on the soft rhyme with Carson City. This impact was due west of Carson City, NV, I haven't looked into Carson CA.
At least one eyewitness said their first thought was they were seeing an incoming ICBM or similar.
Is this a warning? Is it from Gid, or a space based weapon? The Bible does allow the interpretation that Russia is the vehicle of America's chastisement.

actually--it looks like a meteor, as unlucky for that man it is.
Have seen fireballs/bolides/meteors in the past. The posted videos of this event looks just like one looks like.
I don't think humans, the military (US or Russia) had anything to do with this event--a little bigger than us. Only human hubris would try to attach cause to themselves as if they are so powerful as to control the universe.
Only thing humans appeared to have to do with this is building a house in the wrong place.
To the question of "is this God"...well, supposed you would have to ask God himself (or asked the man who owned the house if he recently did something to really piss off a supreme being).

When I spotted my typo after posting, it occurred to me that I may have accidentally protected myself from taking His name in vain (speculation on His motive), although the intent was evident.
We do have a technological focus on Stealth weapons, as such a ballistic or space based vehicle that truly looks like natural cause, a meteor, could be useful.
In this incident, the cosmetic damage seems minimal, however the witness comments about ground shake could be thought of as alluding to the ultimate intent of such a hypothetical weapon, which would be to trigger tectonic activity. If this was severe enough, the disaster response would put major diversionary strain on military resources.
Your comment on human hubris is interesting in a different context, where we see NGO, executive and legislative parties manifesting the delusional belief that all you need is to apply a little corrupt science to legal mandates and presto, you can control climate fluctuations. I guess we'll all find out how He feels about that.
