Hi all,

after a long pause from posting in earthboppinland I am
back here trying to give you some of my insight on current and potential seismic developments.

Some seismograms in California and around the world indicate that a significant quake is in the energy accumulation phase. It will likely release the energy in November. Certains signs suggest that the quake could land in California.

The fact that the recent m6 offshore Oregon shows practically no follow-ups could be interpreted as a sign for a substanially bigger one, m7 perhaps, not necessarily in the same spot.

Hi all,

the m6.8 south of Cuba appears to coincide with a shift of seismic energies as observed in seismograms and recent earthquake locations around the world.

Some seismos are getting virulent signalling another biggie is on the way, substantially upward of m6.8 in magnitude or closer to California than the Cuba epicenter

Subject: some seismos in California showing extreme vibrations

Hi all,

some seismos in California are showing extreme vibrations, about twice the 14November amplitude.

Currently, a big storm is moving through the area which is obviously exerting much pressure on mama earth's crust.

https://www.npr.org/2024/11/19/nx-s1-5196244/bomb-cyclone-pacific-northwest

At one point the crust will react to the forcing, in California or elsewhere, with a big quake.

It is difficult to tell how much amplitude is from the current storm and how much is seismogenetic.

The seismic vibrations, which are mechanical movements of the crust, will at one point cause quaking, perhaps delayed by a few days or weeks.

Hi jordan,

Western Nevada m4.3
https://scedc.caltech.edu/recent/Quakes/nn00887532.html

Central California m3.1
https://scedc.caltech.edu/recent/Quakes/nc75086336.html

no biggie yet but very obviously in preparation stage

Some seismos are really getting highly excited.

The seismic vibrations which can be observed around the world still have room to develop and grow, amplitude- and frequency-wise.

Northern California and Nevada, as you suggested, are strong options, in particular Ferndale and Lake Tahoe.

Plus the San Andreas near Parkfield is showing recurrent episodes of high irritation.

I am waiting for additional signals which may help identify the location. They may appear or not.

As of 14nov2023 1400utc I am expecting the next m7+ within a week. According to the usgs-catalog the average time span between m7+ events is 30 days, based on the quakes listed since 1900. So my time estimate is over 4 times shorter than the statistical expectation.

Now relax, observe and wait for the bang, as the sleeping seismologists say.

Hi all,

an earlier post didn't stick. So I'll try again.

Since about 5nov2024 several seismograms show characteristics which in the past also appeared a few days before big and/or damaging quakes.

Here "big" refers to magnitudes m7 to m8+ while "damaging" means high Mercalli intensities.

Hi all,

since 1900 quakes with magnitude m6.8+ occurred on average every 19 days, based on the usgs-catalog. The time elapsed between my prediction of a significant quake and the real event was about 3 days, 6 times shorter than the statistical expectation of 19 days.

6.8 magnitude earthquake shakes Cuba after hurricanes and blackouts
Nov 10, 2024

HAVANA (AP) — A 6.8 magnitude earthquake shook eastern Cuba on Sunday, after weeks of hurricanes and blackouts that have left many on the island reeling.

The epicenter of the quake was located approximately 25 miles (40 km) south of Bartolomé Masó, Cuba, according to a report by the United States Geological Survey.

The rumbling was felt across the eastern stretch of Cuba, including in bigger cities like Santiago de Cuba. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Residents in Santiago, Cuba's second largest city, were left shaken on Sunday. Yolanda Tabío, 76, said people in the city flocked to the streets and were still nervously sitting in their doorways. She said she felt at least two aftershocks following the quake, but that among friends and family she hadn't heard of any damages.

“You had to see how everything was moving, the walls, everything," she told The Associated Press.

The earthquake comes during another tough stretch for Cuba.

On Wednesday, Category 3 Hurricane Rafael ripped through western Cuba, with strong winds knocking out power island-wide, destroying hundreds of homes and forcing evacuations of hundreds of thousands of people. Days after, much of the island was still struggling without power.

Weeks before in October, the island was also hit by a one-two punch. First, it was hit by island-wide blackouts stretching on for days, a product of the island’s energy crisis. Shortly after, it was slapped by a powerful hurricane that struck the eastern part of the island and killed at least six people.

The blackouts and wider discontent among many struggling to get by has stoked small protests across the island.

Hi ryan,

I just re-posted an earlier message because it seemed to have disappeared. As soon as the second message was posted the earlier one reappeared. Maybe it is just a quirk on my system, five year old Linux with a five year old Firefox?

Regarding potential current locations you may consult the "LakeTahoe et al" message in this thread. Plus several spots which should be added to the list, one is in Mongolia about 700km southwest of Ulaanbataar, the other one is in the Pacific offshore about equidistant to Ecuador-Columbia-Panama-CostaRica. Big one potential also around CookStrait or Kermadec NZ and Alaska/ Aleutians, the latter including Tsunami risk, and in the Atlantic near Azores or SouthSandwichIslands.

Mongolia could be m8+ with high intensities but in a place where only few people live.

Hi ryan,

that's probably what it was, a browser cache/interaction of an unknown kind.

Sometimes I delete the cache so that websites are again retrieved from their origin.

Plus, as I say above, Bolinas may rattle, within a few days, about 6 km west of Bolinas is my approximation, magnitude m3+, conservatively estimated.

However, it could be significantly stronger.

So, I wasn't aware of the existence of this thread before I posted my note about the Cuba earthquake.

Good to see you and thanks for posting. My body
definitely feels this buildup. There's no way we're
getting out of this intense solar cycle without a biggie
and CA is looooong overdue. Jack Coles is also reporting
a buildup of signals and he's been watching for an 8
quite some time based on the signals.

Hi mimici,

thanks for responding. Doesn't surprise me that you are feeling the seismic and/or electromagnetic vibes. I noticed your message on Jack's signals which are simply a different way of viewing environmental vibrations showing other aspects and they are just as valid.

Also thanks for reporting.
