Anyone predicting quakes who did not predict today's
7.8 quake near Alaska should quit claiming they can
predict quakes.

just saying.

Ed certainly didn't predict it.

Nope and neither did anyone else.

You missed the point.

No one predicted it with any remote accuracy*. And with
all the numbers of 'quake predictors' how did they all
miss such a large quake? Surely such magnitudes give off
many precursary signals? No?

Brian

*accuracy beyond vague, loose, open ended references
involving weasel words and phrases such as "maybe",
"possibly", "Alaska", "big". Well, how "maybe"? How
"big"? Where in "Alaska". Might as well predict "possibly
a lot of rain somewhere in the 48 states."

Karen;

No I didn't predict it. I don't predict quakes, I
evaluate predictions.

So far they're all worthless.

Jim's forecasting method that I understand was based on news reports of lost pets was I believe likely valid. I believe that a version of it is used in the People's Republic of China.

To date I have not seen anything that suggests to me that he did any research on the nature of the signals or whatever were causing the pet animals to get disoriented. I have also never heard that he was able to get his method widely used.

EQF

And his results were no better than chance.
