ever since we've moved here to new place, been sick.
New climate, pollution, mold in the new place, allergies,
too much noise, etc. Prayers for solutions, healing and
something better to both our needs. thanks.

Its much worse than mere allergies-- my son is greatly
affected cus the mold is in his shower and sink and got
into his bedroom. He is allergic to more than mold. He
has celiac. And psoriasis - broken out all over his
body, from the mold I guess- we are faced with serious
health issues- we have to find out which kind of mold it
is- black or what. We need to get a professional tester
here- management won't do it. Even tho they knew the
mold problem to begin with according to the maintenance
guy.
I smelled mold/mildew first day moved here-wondering
where it was coming from- found pink slime mold in
bathroom- so had the cleaning lady clean that out -but
still affected by it. Began getting sick-both of us.
Pink mold is bad with those with low immunity- its
bacterial btw. Breathing the stuff. Son has more
problems in his side of the apt. The mold is black
colored- the managment guy told us-there was problems 2
years ago here- so they replaced the whole shower/tub
stall but never took the existing mold problem out. His
skin has suffered greatly, hes broken out is worse sores
all over his body. his lungs are burning- hes been to
hospital/and or doctor several time- its exhausting
trying to live like this. He cannot use his bedroom
management has given us an option to move to another
unit- but with only 1 bathroom, or move.
We are exhausted from it all.

If you've got mold in the bathroom this means you've got mold in the walls, under the floor and in the floor joists.

I recently tore out the carpet for a friend's room. In the closet, underneath the old carpet, I found a huge hole in the wall and floor, where years of leaks from an adjacent shower rotted out all the floor joists. Yet in the bathroom, there was never an indication of any leaking or mold.

Get one of those 'mold testers" from a hardware store and see what the results are (keep the results, you'll probably need them as proof). If it shows mold, pray that it isn't "black mold".

If you rent, find out what State laws protect renters. In California, the landlord has to pay to temporarily relocate the renters while the repair work is being done. I don't know about other states, however.

Good luck with the remediation and let us know how it turns out.

Oh Pam I am so sorry! If I lived close by I would help you! I’ve been
through it also and I got no where with the landlord at the time. My son
was so sick. We finally had to move. My heart breaks for you. I hope help
comes to you.

Oh no… my heart so goes out to you, mold is such a nightmare… If I could
I’d send specialists in removing it and builders to redo everything so it’s
squeaky & perfect for both of you… ;( But then you mentioned more than
just the dwelling, the area, etc…

Although it’s not ideal maybe the 1 bath unit is at least mold free…? I
know, just what you want to think about, moving again…….

Prayers for easiest resolution for all of it…

mold's no joke. When my dishwasher drying element went
out, I didn't realize it started collecting mold inside
the dishwasher shell.

I had been getting sick, then sicker, and couldn't
figure out why or what was causing it...until I
actually poked my head inside the dishwasher (the
dishes had a grey film) and investigated and found the
whole roof of it was covered in black mold.

I rewashed everything by hand with bleach water, and
that was the last day that dishwasher was used.

Seriously, I was so sick from it for a couple weeks.
Had to work on flushing that crap out of my system for
some time.

I now prop open the dishwasher door after a cycle so it
completely dries out (even with a working heat/drying
element in the new one), and make sure it's wiped out,
cleaned and checked frequently.

My sympathies, that stuff is nasty.

Pamela, Red, I can finally type enough to share my own
charming mold story, which...I don't think I have here,
before...?

I was in the midst of working with a dear-friend subtle
energyworker to heal my late-stage cancer, which had been
diagnosed a couple years prior, and it had been slow
going. (I'd opted against chemo and radiation not just
because of its toxicity, but because I'd had several dear
friends die of their chemo rather than their cancer, and
I knew my life-force energy was at an all-time low.)

She had been picking up on some kind of environmental
toxicity we couldn't immediately identify that was
clearly impeding our work to clear my immune system. Then
by stepping somewhere I usually don't, I suddenly
realized the corner of my bedroom rug, where a large
corner shelf covered it entirely, was invisibly soaking
wet...and had been for some time. Found the padding was
moldy underneath... Our hot water heater, which was
stored in an outdoor closet that shared a wall with my
bedroom, had been leaking for quite a while...

And of course, it was a rental handled by property
managers whose priority was *not* to get this taken care
of soonest possible...despite knowing how ill I was...

I mean, I was well and truly freaked out; I know the
dangers of mold, we had been living there for 11 years
and we had no idea how long the rug had been that way...!
Neither my partner nor I could imagine how we hadn't
*smelled* it before...but these units were cooled by
swamp coolers, it was height of monsoon season and
nothing *ever* dried completely during those
months...constant smell of damp and, probably, hidden
mold in lots of places that I'd been living with all
those years. So I present my case to the head property
manager dude, can't entirely hold back tears, and he
makes all the right noises, says all the right words to
convey sincere concern and assurance this will be handled
fastest possible...

Yeah, right...lol... I hear nothing for over a week and,
when I call and ask about it, I'm told they have calls
out to several contractors, waiting for bids to come back
because, of course, the owner had to get several offers
so he could choose the cheapest...and he was fine
w/taking as long as necessary for those busy contractors
to get back to him...

Bottom line? We had to finagle emergency funds where
there were none, for move-in costs elsewhere, but we
started looking soon as the writing was on the wall, and
amazingly scored the very first place we looked at. We
had zero credit between us, we had a cat that was non-
negotiable, but we had positive landlord reference
letters covering 17 years and solid work histories, and
the Divine worked a miracle for us by connecting us
w/someone who had no problem w/those issues...and that
was twelve years ago.

She was appalled by our story but not surprised, as this
property management company is infamous for their
priorities, around here...as are most... It's been an
interesting journey with this landlord, but I remain so
grateful to her for her generosity and openness...

And omg, all's I've known to do is pray that they did,
finally, take care of the mold nightmare damage that hot
water heater created *to the degree necessary to ensure
the health of anyone living there*... Please God.

Pamela, I'm hoping Spirit has your next best situation
placed before you soonest possible and that in the
meantime, things can be resolved best they can...

hope you start feeling better, soon. We went through
something similar when we moved here from a different
region over 20 yrs ago. It took a year or two for our
bodies to acclimate to the new pollens, climate, etc.

Thanks for that reminder Redhart! We went through the same when we
moved here to eastern Tennessee and I went to the local honey couple and
got the local mountain honey and honeycomb to chew on etc. We all took
a teaspoon daily and it helped with our allergies this year.
