That ugly baby first posted here in 2003, is a 21 y.o in a few weeks! Other one turns 17 maņana,, other one who's almost as tall as dad at 13, has his in March.
No one warned us! Not about the "how fast they grow up" thing, but that those days of cookies and daycare and diapers and accessories out the wazoo WERE the easy times lol. Think diapers and formula and babysitters are expensive La Man, just wait. Cars phones insurance clothes yadda yadda, dudes get jeans and T they good.
Savannah needs extra storage unit for clothes.
All A+ students so sigh, whatever ya want kid. Hailey out of house at 18, attending college, snapped up her AA then decided on taking break, now she is at her beasties house renting a room, loving her freedom but passing on this tidbit of knowledge to her sibs: ADULTING SUCKS! LOLOL.
NOOO CHIT CHILD, WELCOME ABOARD! Your lifetime of economic slavery is waiting, enjoy kid.

Happy Birthday, Hailey...yes, they do grow up so fast.
One of the reasons we took the trip to Texas this christmas. Three of our 8 living kids live there...grown up and "adulting" like crazy. I'm so proud of them.
And..we have 8 grandchildren there, 1 born during covid we hadn't met yet (only photos and facetimes) and 1 born on Nov 27th!
One grandkid is 27 now and travelled with us back to texas to see his mom and siblings (living with us right now). One grandson is 18 as well, and will be attending college soon as well. Last I saw him he was a gangly 13 yr old. He's now a young man.
It was a wonderful trip. We had christmas at daughter's house near austin. They have 5 acres there. We had Turkey and ham, with son from OK city coming down with his wife and 3 kids for the holiday as well.
Then up to Dallas area to see the other son--who has the newborn to young to travel that far yet. I got to hold him, little Cooper. I got to give Kyler his christmas toys in person this year.
It was a long drive, but so worth it. You know Mark, I think these kids are going to be okay--and probably out do both of us.
Happy New Year old friend.

Whatever. Already on social security and medicare so may as well. There's something wholly unnatural about retiring" before it's time, especially when it's in a mad dog rush like my case file smack dab at start of panicdemic, not the best time to interact with offices that are closed.
3 years and 2 appeals later, including a federal court appearance on my couch. No zoom, just a phone call which is very very intimidating, can't see anyone but there's like 4 people interacting with judge Arno, including my advocate Mary who's my mother's age, a Vietnam era vet (mad respect), but is also a former SS employee so she knows the drill.
IDGAF what one reads online or hears from other people, unless your application is approved the first time, you're already in too deep because the process is maddening for those of us w half a brain tied behind our backs, found her thru local FB recommendation and boy am I glad. Pandemic closed all the offices, all the experienced old salts retired bc of c19, and now you have some kid working from home, telling me, "I don't even see your application, maybe you can file another one" two years into the process. Witaf? Turns out some idiot removed my entire file permanently from the webosphere, 159,789 calls later... Enter Mary: oh its just off the web, still have hard copy on file. So now what? James Bond the office and steal my own sh? Lol. MySS page still shows "you're appeal was filed on April/2022".
Hot freakin mess which was expected, but not "oh its not on our interwebs anymore".
Judge rendered 5 page long decision which basically said, "y'all missed it, give this man his original disability date he filed for, case closed".
So now back pay. Lol. Once again they tell you zero. Nothing. Just hit the bank 3 months later, well screw you too Jack.
Now it's catchup time bigly, haven't worked since 2017, thing is Mary explained to me that the magical number of age 50 is where they start factoring that into "can't be trained for whatever, too close to 65", and that was that.
Glad was totally ignorant at start, if you had said "3 years" back then I'd have dropped dead haha.
Good news is though, just had MRI on 28th, brain and cspine, with and without contrast and no active disease process aka inflammation evident.
Not easy flaunting their 100k/yr drugs for 20 years, then again still functional for the most part, said F it though and got a placard (cause I can dammit lol), but just use it very occasionally and never if it's crowded.
Just glad never got covid, only one in house that didn't. Wife got jabbed which she DESPISED, or she'd lose her job. Freaking LA County.
But things are leveling out now too, dad's a lot less stressed but this isn't EXACTLY what I envisioned as retirement way back. Not all at once, need to ease into that, not fast track it. Wholly unnatural feel.
$$ going fast now though, lot of years of catchup to do.
But wife and kids r good, I'm good so it's all good brotha..

Thats great news Mark! Although my brain always reads beasties when I see the word besties. Its not far wrong tho, since many of us have to be beasties to survive and thrive in this current weird life, in attitude anyways. Just wait til your a grandpa and great grandpa, its beyond the pale... Lol.
