I like to string those kind of calls ( when I take them which isn’t often)
along for a while just wast their time like they are doing to me. My iPad
even shows me if it’s a political call, or spam. I just hit the red phone,
then it stops.

Anyone who gets a message,Facebook, email, from Eric hill. Don’t even
go there. The person poses as Major General wanting someone to help
keep tack of his son who lost his mom 5- yrs ago. His name has been
used many many times trying to get money, or anything they think you
can do to help.

It's a pretty standard script to call, asking for a
random name, calling you a random name. T

hat way, if you answer and give your name, they will be
able to associate it with your number (that and any
other information you give), and potentially call you
from a different number for your real name.

I never give my name on a phone call unless it's a
number AND voice that I recognize, since they can spoof
real numbers now.

Also, they can record your voice. If you say "Yes" at
any point, they can play that back for services in your
name, making it sound like you accepted a service when
you didn't.

Have to be very careful about how you answer these
days, if you answer at all (I don't anymore, except by
accident when I'm waiting for another call that I know
is coming). If someone doesn't leave a message, that's
on them. Even when they do leave a message, I find a
way to verify whether or not it was them BEFORE calling
the number back.

Charles - NEVER reply to any texts that you have no idea
who they came from. Sometimes they are from scammers
who, once you reply, can gain access to your phone and
all the information on it, including banking (if you have
those apps on your phone), your contact list, etc.

that you have all the high tech you need to keep you and
your information safe. But, may I caution that you don't
become too overly confident in your abilities and skills.
Even my significant other who has been in high tech since
the beginnings in the 80's (yes, he hung around with
Jobs, Gates, Ellison et al), and was high upper
management in Tech with certain well-known companies - as
he tells me - don't prod the devil you don't know - the
hackers have skills beyond the 'average' tech person's
knowledge and capabilities.

My husband was the top tech at HP, before that he was one of the top 3-
mechanical/ PC Designers at same company. He now does contract work
for 2- companies. One of his computers is the ‘mother board’ to all
above. If I see anything with the slightest smell I go to him first. Learned
a lot from him- just enough to get myself into trouble! He has taught me
what to watch for- if I even question an email, Facebook, messenger, that
shows up DELETE,DELETE,DELETE all of them.
