Gunman Got Within 500 Yards of Trump in Second Assassination Attempt Published Sep 15, 2024 at 5:43 PM EDT By Kaitlin Lewis Night Reporter The alleged gunman behind Donald Trump's second apparent assassination attempt got within 500 yards of the former president, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. The FBI told Newsweek on Sunday that it is investigating a shooting at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, as an "attempted assassination." The Secret Service said that shots were fired around 1:30 p.m. EST on the golf course. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw told reporters at a press briefing Sunday afternoon that a Secret Service agent had spotted the gunman with a rifle sticking out of a bush-lined fence at the golf course. The agent then "engaged" with the suspect, who then fled the scene in a vehicle. The shooter, who was later taken into custody, got within 300 to 500 yards of Trump, law enforcement said. The shooting comes just nine weeks after the former president was the target of an attempted assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on July 13. That suspect, who shot at Trump from a rooftop near by the rally's location, was less than 164 yards from where the former president was speaking. Trump spokesperson Steven Chueng told Newsweek in a statement that the former president "is safe following gunshots in his vicinity." Trump also said in a statement, "I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again." |

and vivek and Haley in 2024..and..and.. like I said, he's all over the board. One article listed his party as independent at one point. You can't really pin him down to one party as he jumps back and forth depending on his "cause of the day". Which, right now, appears to be Ukraine (at least to the best of our sketchy info on him). |

Now...if you even read this, Old Timer...lol...will you now decide that because I said "I'm not surprised there was another assassination attempt," that I'm actually *wanting him dead*? Is that what I just said? I have the distinct impression that literally the only feedback you'd deem acceptable to receive, from anything you post, would be words like: "No, I'm sorry, sir, but I respectfully disagree with you." lol Are you actually going to expect us to believe that you don't understand why *very strong language is used* in what we have to say about someone attempting to enact religious/racist/misogynist Fascism in this country? His numbers have slid since the last assassination attempt bumped them up. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't paying people himself to take pot shots so he can get on the evening news, a stock jump and the pity dole. But that does sound more like a Don, Jr. plan. He loves photo ops with kill. |

Listening to msnbc: They say his name is Ryan Westly Routh, 58, and he's been involved in Ukraine trying to recruit people to the Ukraine side to fight. There's sketchy information out there right now. Not sure all of it's correct. According to the NY Post (not a great source), he had an account on Truth Social about how he voted for Trump in 2016...I see they took that down now? That's why I don't care for the NYPost, btw. They've gotten first reports wrong in the past. Perhaps it wasn't the right "Ryan Routh". Now they have up that he has posts echoing Kamala (Democracy is on the ballot), but also that he was a supporter of Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley (??) "Routh was a supporter of Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley, according to one of his posts in which he encouraged the Republican presidential candidates to continue their races. They quote him: “You cannot quit. Why. You must stay on the ballot to the end. You must fight. You must continue giving speeches and push all the way to election day no matter the election results. Do not give in. Join Nikki and keep working. But it seems Ukraine is a major issue for him. Lots of conflicting info out there, like he had several minor charges on his police record, one was being in possession of a weapon of mass destruction (Uh...that doesn't sound minor to me). Think the best thing to do is to wait for more "verifiable" information. Most of this stuff comes from not so great sources so far. When something suddenly happens in the news, often the first reports may be incorrect as journalists rush to be the first to get something out. So, I would recommend taking all of it with a grain of salt until information settles down. |
